I'm not a huge fan of Jodie Kidd as I don't feel she'll be up to the sort of banter we have come to expect on Top Gear, VBH would be a good shout on that basis if they could get her back to Top Gear from Fifth Gear as would Plato or Needell, or if Fifth Gear have Plato what about Matt Neal or even John Cleland for Top Gear? Think Guy Martin's accent is a bit too thick personally but correct sort of personality IMO.
Top bantz!!!

The BBC are unlikely to let the new presenters be anything like Clarkson, Hammond and May, they will not want to go through all of the controversys again.

Instead they will likely have 3 people who at the start at least, will not click.

I'll probably watch it to see how bad it is, but it'll be nothing like new old TopGear.

Whoever they pick, it'll probably be dire as the BBC tries to be 'right on'.

Given Guy Martin has all but said he is quitting bike racing, I'd assume he would be in the mix based on the popularity of the Speed series and his mechanical engineering knowledge.

The BBC will ensure there is a female amongst them
Haven't they ticked the oppressed, minority box by hiring a Ginga?

I happen to like Evans but I guess he'll be dropping Radio2? Which would be a shame.

Plato is a good character. As is Martin and Glenister.

Very few women work in TV with cars. Martin Clunes' drag act is dull. The squealing bush pig from 5th Gear is well, a squealing bush pig.

I rate Perry as being on TV because she's actually good at her job. And her banter with the bike racers shows she has the skills for this kind of tv show.

All in though, it'll work better being just three blokes acting like immature dicks.

Guy Martin has successfully fronted loads of programmes already without requiring subtitles so I think he'd be just fine on that front smile The problem I think he'd have is that a lot of the charm of TG came from the three of them being (or at least pretending to be), a bit useless at manly things. Guy Martin is just a bit too competent at manly things (driving stuff, making stuff), for this sort of shtick to work IMO. But then it seems pretty clear that it'll be a very different show anyway so it would be great to see him doing something on it.

I'd like to see be

Guy Martin
David Mitchell
Steve Coogan.

Keep Jodie Kidd well away from it - dull as ditchwater.

Given that it's the BBC they will probably want to tick a few more boxes this time around.

I'm expecting to see some serious tokenism from the full line-up.

Chris Evans is a great choice, not sure about the rest, I do like Guy Martin but he isnt quite right somehow, I am not sure he could do the quick fire stuff, his role as the new, young Fred Dibnah suits him really well.

I dont think a lady would be a bad shout but it needs to be one with car knowledge and passion, like VBH, not Sue Perkins or Claire Balding, they arent petrolheads and people will see through them, Chris Evans is the real deal in terms of being a car enthusiast, as much as the previous incumbents, Sabine Schmidt could be good, she seems likeable but depends whether she can present tv, I don't think that bit is easy.

I could see them trying to get someone like Idris Elba on board, hes allready got the love for cars, would tick the minority boxes the bbc love so much and actually has a personality.

Me personally, Ide quite like it if they tried out a few different people for a few series to see who clicks, a bit like on never mind the buzzcocks with the different hosts every week.

Claire Balding, jesus, just no. VBH has always been cool and totally agree about Guy Martin. I think he works best hosting his own stuff where the quirky technicalities of something can be drilled into at length. Jonny Smith and/or Chris Harris biggrin

The first season will be top gear reality show where hundreds of lookatmes compete for the role of presenter. Week by week the public will vote for the ones they want to keep. Ultimately the winner will be a 14 year old boy because the only people who vote in these vacuous shows are teenage girls. The BBC will then realise that the winner is too young to have a driving licence and the show will be cancelled.

Would love to see Steve Coogan but i very much doubt he will. Probably not his cup of tea tbf and most likely has other things going on.

Wasn't keen on Chris Evans doing it at first. I know he's a keen petrol head but i personally think his car reviews for the Daily Mail are appalling. But now i'm thinking he might be an okay choice.
