Chris Evans to do Top Gear.who will join him
Discussion
The sort of people I would like to see considered for the line-up (in no particular order) are:
1. Robert Llewellyn (would fill the May role really well)
2. Mark Webber ("Some say he's an Aussie Git..." - Hammond/Semi-Stig Role)
3. Guy Martin (Hammond/Semi-Stig Role)
4. Philip Glenister (a bit cliched, but May role?)
5. Mark Evans (May role)
6. Sabine Schmitz
7. Stacey Dooley (female Hammond role? - up for doing stuff and good at blokey banter)
8. Humphries (unlikely to want to play second fiddle to CE)
9. Eddie Jordan (occasional appearances to tie TG into BBC's F1 coverage?)
10. or the unknown, but refreshing, Bob: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5-KHIRFPeeurU-GJ...
But it is all about getting the right mix. Putting Robert Llewellyn and Mark Evans together wouldn't work - they are too close in personality. Similarly, Mark Webber and Guy Martin are too similar. It's going to be all about getting a good fit.
People that just won't work are:
1. Jodie Kidd (cringe-worthy presenting skills)
2. VBH (self-obsessed and out of date)
3. Jason Plato (egomaniac)
4. Sue Perkins (just plain irritating)
5. Quentin Wilson (just no)
6. Suzi Perry (wooden presenting skills)
7. Jimmy Carr (too many comedians and all that..)

I think too many people are trying to think of Top Gear with CE as something that should or will be the same as TG with Clarkson, Hammond and May. It needs to be different because if they try and force the same kind of show it will fall flat, the setup worked (however scripted it was) because they worked well together.
The problem with changing it is that as petrol heads we want to see more car centric stuff rather than just messing about with a vague motoring theme. However, the vast majority of people want the following:
A supercar review followed by:
Clarkson: “Ohh, I have crashed my car into wall, oh dear, hur hur hur”
May: “I managed to stop” <smug grin>
-**Screech-bang**-
Hamster: “hahahah I used James’ car to stop”
May: “why did you do that, it was mint”
This is what you have to get around, which I’ll be impressed if CE and the production crew manage to pull off to be honest. There are a large number of people that would be very good at doing individual pieces to camera (most have been mentioned in this thread already) about specialist subjects rather than being a full time person on the show.

TG will not be TG as it was, but a new version under CE stewardship.
it wasn't really BBC Top Gear it was a show about three middle aged men getting up to all sorts of stuff in Cars and the three clearly had some good chemistry which made it worth watching.TG will not be TG as it was, but a new version under CE stewardship.
I will watch Top Gear with Evans all though I fear it will be the 80's version back reviewing boring Cars .
Whatever happens it's going to be compared to the old show, by a lot of people with preconceived negative opinions, people that are looking for it to fail. CE has a mountain to climb with it really, but I think he's probably got the chops for it even if I don't particularly like his style.
Definitely agree that it needs to strike out on its own, if it tries to ape the formula of the old show - even down to 3 presenters fitting the archetypes of Clarkson, May and Hammond it'll be excruciating.
