Why do we need "funny" and "banter"? It should be about the cars not the personalities, shouldn't it? Or does that not matter anymore?
Depends - do you want to watch it on BBC2 on a Sunday evening, or on Discovery Shed late night Wednesday?
Otolith - spot on. I' can't work out why people find this hard to grasp. Exhibit A: original Top Gear. Exhibit B: Fifth Gear.

Think Guy Martin's accent is a bit too thick personally but correct sort of personality IMO.
If he is anything like he was on Closer to the Edge the swear filter is going into overdive.

The thing is with TG it became more about them and not the cars over the years.

It became Last of the Summer Wine with cars.

If its worth watching, I'll watch anytime, but I don't expect to be "amused" rather than informed..
You don't own a Subaru jacket, do you?

Rebecca Jackson would be good. She came across well in the rally feature with Tiff on 5th Gear. Can drive, and will fill the female quota while being an unknown quantity to the vast majority of viewers and thus not prejudged (as Richard and James were when they first got the TG gig).

Chris Evans said on Radio 2 This morning he Is contracted for 3 years.
Filming starts in March and they will produce 18 programmes per year.
.
I hope Jodie doesn't become one of the 3 on the sofa. I love watching all car programmes, new (super cars design), old,(restoration) 3 wallies mucking about....
.
but she and QW on that classic car series....made even me delete the "series link"

I happen to like Evans but I guess he'll be dropping Radio2? Which would be a shame.
On Twitter Evans said he's definitely not dropping Radio 2.

James Martin, no. Arrogant tosser who seems to rub a fair few people up the wrong way outside of filming.

Is Piers Morgan still available scratchchin

SP is F1, and VBH is fifth Gear. It'll probably be someone like Jodie Kidd or Amy Macdonald.
God I hope it's not Jodie Kidd - the show needs personality and she has none.
Agreed. She gives me the willie's does Jodie. Watching her and Quentin 'interact' is painful at best.

She would be fking terrible. Awful. Abysmal.

I give you Exhibit A.

Her nasal up/down delivery is only surpassed by Family Guy's Asian correspondent Tricia Takanawa.

Jason Plato is a good shout given that he left 5th Gear...
He's an amusing chap with the massive ego only a racing driver can have. My view is that the TFI show was used as a soft intro for not only Clarkson to hand over to Evans but also to reveal Plato to the general public ahead of his appearance as one of the presenters.

This leaves the female element. For which I am actually hoping the BBC elevate someone from the regions or other channels as opposed to spending any money on any of the known and generally disappointing females currently linked to car related shows.

2 known, male egos plus someone completely new to mainstream TV would seem sensible.

I'd also expect a 100% format change because if Evans keeps his BBC2 slot then he can't do any of the challenges of the past and on top of this, why not change and not risk competing with any show that Clarkson fronts etc. I would assume a different studio or at least design and a different format has to be likely.

If you want the challenges then wait for whoever picks up the 3 old hosts and gives them a show called "MORE POWER"

Netflix within the year I would put large sums on it.

It was borderline embarrassing how he was with Hamilton, perhaps in the recorded shows he'll be less 'hyper'...if he is the guy I hope so as he knows his stuff.

Elizabeth White for the 'unknown' female role?

Editor Of speedhunters
Owns a Porsche 918 spider
Proper petrolhead
Known in the social media world as 'itswhitenoise'

Shes done a bit of rudimentary interviewing with F1 drivers and such like and good..

Would love either Chris Harris, Guy Martin, Plato or Coogan to be chosen.
