He isn't Chris Tarrant who should be on Radio 2, creating utter chaos but with style.
No, please, anything but, he's as out of date and annoying as Steve Wright is. Put Johnny Walker on in Wrights place. At least he isn't so far up himself all he can see is the bottom of his tonsils unlike these two are!!

What's with the 'ping'?

He makes a ping that sounds like the warning tone in the car every afternoon at random times.

(It is the radio right?)

Well it's st, the "knock on effect" is that I scan my dashboard to see what the problem with my car is.

Seriously, that's what the noise is when the traffic news is on? I assumed it was her message system with a new message arriving, it's done my head in for ages because I've been caught out wondering what the hell was making the noise in the car/house. Now I know it's him it's just another reason to thoroughly dislike him. He's getting a good kick in the shin as soon as I meet him.

Yep, that's all it is.

It's okay though, he finds it amusing and assumes everyone else does too. You can just imagine Sally traffic thinking 'knob' every time he does it over her travel bulletins.

Wow, get with the times, Sally Traffic left weekday radio 2 in August last year. It's now Bobbie Pryor!! Sally now does weekends.

I'd be amazed if that was taken this century.

I'm not sure which I dislike the most, him or Simon Mayo, they're so hopelessly Smashy and Nicey - I hardly notice when they hand-over.

There's no radio sweetspot for me at the moment. I've outgrown Radio 1 to the point of it being jarring to me now, but Radio 2 still mostly sounds like something my Mum would listen to, commercial stations local to me are terrible and Radio Wales makes a danger to other road users when I fall asleep.

Hope my next car has DAB.

That's the problem, a lot of us are at an age that the BBC don't really cater for with radio. We spent a long time listening to Mark & Lard then Moyles etc and they have all but vanished. Yes I know Mark does a fair bit of BBC stuff and covers Glastonbury etc but surely he should be doing R2 drive time or similar. They seem to have kept hold of DJ's for far too long in prime slots. An entire generation of BBC DJ's have just been left to do obscure time slots and panto when they could be providing us with decent entertainment.

I know they have radio 3 and 4 but in the same way I don't read the Guardian or Times I don't listen to those, I find them too serious and dull.

Yup, totally agree that Wright is wrong.

6Music, R4LW for TMS, Absolute and when in south Wales, Nation Radio does good music in between the laughably poor local adverts...

Thanks. I now know what that sound is. I heard it on Friday afternoon whilst sitting in a jam on the M25 listening to him. I thought my mobile had picked up some virus. As it was it was R2 that had it. He's seriously thick at times.

Funny this, I don't ever listen to Steve Wright, because I know he is tedious, dated samey and lacking genuine enthusiasm, but I did have the misfortune to hear the last half hour of his show on Friday with this 'Serious Jocking' bks and thought the same. Completely unfunny and very cringy! R2 do need a DJ clear out!
