The fear I have is Evans brand of humour - if his radio programme and TFI are anything to go by, he plays it a bit too wacky and repetitive (how many times have we heard "how do you like your eggs", Candyman, and the Banana Splits).
I think you are forgetting just how repetitive Top Gear was! FourWheelDrift said:

Nice piece...seems like everyone really enjoyed working on the show from all levels! FourWheelDrift said:

Having watched Clarkson's last day at work, I think we can understand a bit more why he hit someone.
It was James May's fault, driving past all those pubs.FourWheelDrift said:

That's the best thing I've read on all of this.Of course, they could have just stopped off at a pub they liked and left May to find his own. Just like they do when he breaks down? Valid point about the dinosaur though.
The sadness for me is that Clarkson knows so much about cars, the business, and the history of a vast range of machines and marques, and yet in the last few series we got to see and hear so little of it. All in the name of "hahaaa but its an entertainment show, not a car show". Fair enough, but that doesn't stop me being sad to have lost a show about cars.
In more than one job I have had, there has been a witty bloke in the office, who strengthens the team and is cripplingly funny now and then, but gradually he just becomes tiresome, and the same old stunts over and over just make you think "yeah mate, leave it out". Matey-ness only goes so far really, and has an expiry date.
Interesting to see that Andy Wilman still doesn't see that assaulting someone at work means that you get fired.

I agree very much with his last few paragraphs including this one:"Was Jeremy out of order that night? Yes. Did he deserve an enormous punishment? Yes. Should that punishment be to have to leave the institution he’s given his heart and soul to for 27 years? No. Should that punishment be the killing of the amazing show he and a dysfunctional little gang built from nothing? No."

I hadn't realised the number of violent physical assaults one can perpetrate in the workplace was directly proportional to the number of years service accrued. I'm currently on 7 years at my current firm - how many people am I entitled to thump before I get the sack?
Depends how much they need you, or want rid of you. If, like most people, you're entirely expendable, none.otolith said:

Exactly a mr Cantona leaped into the crowd to kick a rival supporter a Mr Suarez enjoyed a little bite now and then not only did they not get sacked but they also got a better contract out of it. So Clarkson wasn't just an "employee" and if the BBC had wanted to they could have kept him on they chose not to and so we move on.Naomi Campbell, the ultimate waster of space - http://hollywoodlife.com/2010/03/03/naomi-campbell...

Ive just watched out here in Afghanistan on Iplayer which takes about 10 hours to download and loved it.
Ill miss it because there was plenty of cocking about, showed some good bits on the sort of cars i like (i tend to give AutoExpress a miss and buy Evo!) and as many have said the chemistry was just right between the 3. I even tolerated Star in a Car.
The Andy Wilman bit on the previous link was spot on. JC should of been punished but even the bloke he bopped didnt want him to go. Im sure there could of been some sort of punishment and more so if it hadnt been leaked to the press.
I for one will look forward to seeing what the 3 of them get up to in the future.

The PC lefties in the BBC were out to get him and his contretemps with his producer was all they needed after a litany of PC violations to get rid of him and don't forget Clarkson handed himself in which made their job all the easier. This is the same lot that let Savile get away with a lot worse but ignored it. Speaks volumes.

Whatever CE comes up with, it might be called Top Gear but it won't be Top Gear.
