Cine film to dvd

My grandfather has recently passed away and we have come across a stash of old Cone film he took of the family when my mother was growing up. Has anyone had any experience of having Cine film digitised?.. recommend anyone who can do it?..

Yes, I did it with all my late father's old 8mm cine films from the mid 60's to early 70's. Took it to a place in Camden Town. They did an excellent job. A few DVDs with chapters titled according to the notes on the film tins, plus a memory card with everything on it in case I want to add a soundtrack at some point. There's bound to be a similar sort of place near you I suspect, but happy to recommend the place I used if it's vaguely close to you?

Can be frighteningly expensive, I heard it suggested a while back to just buy a Eumig projector off ebay, project against a screen and camcorder it, then re-sell the projector.
