Sky HD - Upgrade?
Discussion
Hi folks,
Just been looking to get an upgrade for the mother from standard to HD but all Sky seem to want you to do is get their phone and internet plus more fancy channels. All I'm am after is the standard variety package that she already has but with an HD box as the current one is donkeys years old.
Is it possible to upgrade without the faff of buying all other services?
Thanks,
Andy

Don't think just changing the box will work as you need an HD subscription to view in HD. Also, you have to 'pair' the old card with the new box.
Depending on how long you can bear to be without Sky, the best option is to cancel and they'll either offer you a deal on a new box and subscription or wait 2 months and they'll be sending you offers by email. I quit 3 months ago and now it's 60% off for the first year, free HD Sky+ Box and a free 42" TV.

Really that simple?!!
Yes as others have said, change box put old card in box and ring sky and ask them to "pair" the card. You do not need an HD sub to see bbc1/2/3/4 in hd or itv or ch4. Just be aware the channels will be on different channel numbers on an HD box. Ch5 discovery etc will not be viewable in HD without the HD pack but will still be available in SD.
If you dont want the faff of ringing them up then it can be done online if she has a sky ID
