Westworld (NO SPOILERS)
Discussion
So have we had all the 'big' reveals or will there be one or two more next week? I'm thinking there will be some further twists... and even some more, double, triple twists which throw everything on it's head and then flip it 180-360 again.. It felt a little too 'easy' this Ep.. As others have said nothing can be taken at face value.

May have been in the other thread but could the General she executed have been Arnold?
Who used the term general, was it Teddy?eps said:

Indeed, I felt that. In GoT the last ep can be a 'mop-up' ep, but then again, sometimes it's not. Ford clearly isn't omnipotent, so stuff is and can happen without his knowledge. Though his MO seems to have been denying sentience since the park existed. Can't wait to see what MiB and Dolores get up to next Tuesday.

I know he said it, but why on earth would Dolores kill Arnold?
Programmed by Ford to do so?
And the whole Teddy/Wyatt thing - what happened to all the Minotaurs?
How is Teddy even vaguely relevant in all this?
Much is being made of the "Dolores is probably Wyatt" theory but Wyatt was planted in Teddy by Ford as his back story, to give him extra depth as part of the "new narrative". SO how the hell could Dolores be Wyatt?! As for Dolores killing Arnold, no doubt that will come in the 90 minute closing episode. At least I hope it does.Programmed by Ford to do so?

I'm actually really interested in seeing how they end this season AND still set it up for season 2, without a cliffhanger.

Me too but surely the cliffhanger is going to be a flash of the new narrative in action? And to answer my own question the whole Teddy/Wyatt backstory must be a big part of it going forward because the whole "what happened at the buried town" is totally tedious.
Also, I know Sir Tony has obviously nailed the trope of "menacing understated omniscience" but goddam it is utterly compelling to watch.

The missus watched E1 and didn't care for it. I then put on E9 last night and she starts asking me to explain what has happened.....
At least then you can make a try at some answers.I hate it when you both start watching something for the first time and she says, "who's that? why is he doing that?" - how the fk do I know... we've both watched exactly the same thing... am I fking psychic? I'm not Sherlock-bloody-Holmes.

I was assuming - as this is such a long series to make AND I couldn't see some of Hopkins' age and reputation committing to more than 1 season, that he gets written out. But that would be an enormous loss if he is.And to answer my own question the whole Teddy/Wyatt backstory must be a big part of it going forward because the whole "what happened at the buried town" is totally tedious.

I'm not sure how many viewers are picking up on all the different timelines. Definitely need a weekly analysis to make sense of it all!
So MIB is actually a director of DELOS and apparently has been from the beginning? He also has power over Ford. Why is he on this quest to find the hidden meaning? Surely he'd be able to find that out without participating?
Also, what is Ford's motivation? He's not interested in sentient life and there can't be much long term fulfilment in being a God amongst dumb animals. Is he just committed to give rich people a fun vacation?
Other than that, it all makes perfect sense

I'm reading it as
William/MIB present at the original incident which gives his company an in to buy out the park and become a director
William/MIB see spark of humanity in Delores and Maive when under trauma
His wife dies and he wants to recreate her, believes the secret is somewhere in the park. We know its possible as we've seen Bernard but Ford has hidden this from everyone
No idea what Ford is up to

Ford did say that he doesn't have the creativity to create a Big Bad for Westworld, so maybe he just lifted the elements of a real event, the thing at the town, that Doloroes and co were all involved in?I'm actually really interested in seeing how they end this season AND still set it up for season 2, without a cliffhanger.
I'm a bit fuzzy on the incident that happened 30 years ago. Are we expecting Logan to die? The town thing wasn't humans, and was 35 years ago?
THis is Emergency Awesome's latest vid and speculation on ep 10.
