Saw this last night - it was brilliant, didn't take itself seriously and was very funny. Very violent, but in a humourous way. Laughing, properly, from the credits through to the end - It took me a moment to realise where the last fight scene was though smile

Highly recommended biggrin

Watched this last night and have to say it has probably slotted into the top 3 Marvel films so far for me. Adult humour which had the cinema audience in stitches, violence galore and a top turn from Reynolds who seems to have made for this role plus great eye candy in the always watchable Baccarin.

It's quite a different film to the usual Marvel films which can be a bit too saccharin for their own good at times and all the better for it as it surprised me in a good way.

9/10

P.S. They also showed the trailer for Suicide Squad which also looks like another great, darker anti-hero film in a similar vein to Dead Pool.

Loved all the trailers, they didn't show the Suicide Squad in my showing. Civil War looks the best.

What other 'Marvel' films are in your top three? This is the only non-MCU 'Marvel' film I'll re-watch in the future

Just got back from a packed screening, not heard so much laughter at the cinema for a long long time.

Very, very conventional superhero movie under the skin though, but the in-jokes, fourth wall stuff etc absolutely made it.

Suicide squad looks VERY good as does Civil War. Those two are probably my two most anticipated films of this year.

As for top spots it's a tough call but I'd have to say probably Avengers Assemble and CA: Winter Soldier are probably my 1 and 2 as AA got so much right and WS is the strongest of the individual movies IMO.

Dead Pool would be 3rd place but probably tie with Guardians of the Galaxy for that honour. Then I'd place Iron Man 1 and after that surprisingly perhaps it would be Blade 1 and 2.

They are probably my stand-outs, the rest of the films have been fair to middling IMO with Age of Ultron a particular disappointment, not because it's a terrible movie, far from it but after the brilliant AA, it didn't really live up to the standards that had been set IMO.

Very similar to me.

Winter Solider and Guardians are there, they are sublime. Difficult to chose one from the 'very good' pack out of the rest, possibly the Avengers....ahh, as I type, Ant-Man, will pip Iron-Man.

And I still enjoy Spider-Man 1 & 2.

I expect Civil War to interrupt that.

I just wish Warner bro would by the 2000AD rights.

There have been 4 Dredd/Batman crossovers in the comics

Worth pointing out that I have watched most of the Disney MCU but have no interest whatsoever in the X-Men stuff, but Deadpool held up absolutely fine as a standalone movie. It didn't feel like I missed any plot or jokes because of it. In fact it didn't even occur to me that he was part of that universe until we see the Xavier School.

Have to say Dredd was also superb, would love to see a Dredd\Batman movie.

Coming back on topic, I'd also love to see a Deadpool vs Wolverine match-up as they've fought in the comics before. If it retained the more adult tones of the Deadpool film rather than the watered down Wolverines one's it could be superb.

I love the fact he is fully aware that he is a fictional comic book anti hero.

The running jokes on Wolverine and Jackman were hilarious.

Yep in fact doesn't he one point make a quip about a 4th wall within a 4th wall making it a 16th wall break? It's something he does in the comics quite regularly too apparently. People have tried to explain it by saying it's part of his power set or that he goes so mental he is out the other side. In the film he only gains the ability after he becomes Dead Pool, Wade doesn't have it initially.

Whatever the reason it's used to hilarious effect and makes it a very different kind of movie to previous Marvel stuff.

I was expecting a " tis but a flesh wound " joke after his fight with Collusus though smile

I also did expect a Wolverine cameo, but the piss take of him was far better smile

We had a kid in our screening last night who couldn't have been more than 10.

My nephew (who is 9) is a massive comic book nerd and absorbs every movie, he is fully aware of Deadpool and I'm sure would love to see it, but there is no way on earth he is seeing this film for many years.

Saw this last night and thought it was excellent. Not Oscar material (by a long stretch) but stylish, well paced, great characters and genuinely laugh out loud funny.

The only character I didn't think worked well was the teen mutant, Negasonic whatever. A throwaway character who either needed to be better developed or replaced with someone more noteworthy IMO.

She didn't seem to have much doing, but she did provide some comedy fodder

My 12 year old & 7 year old would love to go, they've had deadpool tee shirts and stuff for a couple of years, I had no idea who it was until I saw the trailer. Pity I can't tke them smile
