Recommend me a thrilling tv series!
Discussion
A bit unsure as to what to watch now. Haven't watched a great deal of TV lately and fancy a good series. Last one I watched was the Danish series "forbrydelson" aka the killing. Really enjoyed that.
Doesn't matter if it's old or new just fancy something good to keep me occupied of an evening!
Many thanks

The Shield is one of my favourite box sets. Watched it through three times now.
Police drama centred around a corrupt anti gang unit. Often brutal, but credible rounded characters and (especially at the end) intricate thought provoking storylines.
You will know from watching the pilot whether it is for you or not

Braquo ...very French but very good, Netflix and Amazon iirc
Or go to Wales and watch Hinterland for a Nordic noir spin on a Celtic version of Heartbeat, I'd call it more slow burn than thrilling though

Sounds like you dont mind subtitles, so try the Danish/Swedish version of The Bridge ("Bron/Broen"). Excellent, with a gripping plot, a se7en-esque killer that seems to toy with the police, and a pair of cops made up of a lovable rogue guy that cant keep it in his pants, and a hawt woman who drives a classic 911 and has an undisclosed condition (Autism/Asperger's implied) which makes are super intuitive on one hand, but is a source of comedy in her blunt communication with others.
Sadly series 2 was quite poor in my opinion, but no need to watch that, as S1 wraps up nicely.

Just couldn't get into BB, nothing really happens.
You must have watched a different BB to me then. In 5 series there were maybe 5 padding/filler episodes (though arguably they focused on character development) but the rest were solid gold.Unusual for me, as I loved The Sopranos, The Wire etc.
Spiral? It's another from the BBC4 9pm Saturday evening stable, French this time though and there have been five (I think) series - the conclusion of the most recent one was properly gobsmacking.
"The honourable woman" which was on BBC2 last year was labyrinthine in a way that made "Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy" from the 1970s (no idea if you will remember that one or not) look like Peppa Pig, but really gripping once you started to piece it together.

I am struggling as well - got through the first three episodes and not relly getting the "I must watch the next one" feeling.

Funnily enough I was certainly entertained enough to keep watching but it did take 3 or 4 episodes before it properly grabbed me, give it at least one more ep and I'd be surprised if you aren't hooked.Unusual for me, as I loved The Sopranos, The Wire etc.
Oh and another shout for Banshee, it's chuffing awesome.
"Thrilling" definitely describes the first couple of series of Braquo.
I watched it on a weekly basis (I know, I really should watch on box set... ) and often wished I could immediately watch the next episode so breathtaking were the cliff hangers (something American series seem to hate on the whole)!
