If anyone wants to know why our roads are in such a state I hesitate to suggest that people watch this.

Unreal it really is. Utterly inept individuals.

Crew goes out to fill in potholes. Get to location of potholes and discover the angle grinder hasnt got enough fuel so apparently have to sit around for a few hours waiting for someone to bring them some more fuel...

and it goes on and on.

It was a Stihl saw, not a grinder.

Wasn't sure myself why someone didn't nip off in one of the trucks for some petrol though.

Useless or not, I'd still love them to come and do something about our street. Council refuse to resurface it as there are only 17 houses in the street, and only 5 kids have come to grief after coming off their bikes hitting the potholes. 2 years ago there were 35 potholes in just a 30 foot stretch, now there's only 26 as many have merged together. The deepest is 9", shallowest 6". The last time the street was surfaced was in 1976. The council has already forked out over £3k in damage claims and are now facing a personal injury claim for one of the 1o year old kids whose front teeth were knocked out when he hit the pothole. Still they decline to even inspect it. (We've checked through Info Disclosure) that the last time they officially inspected the road was in 1997.

As long they turn a profit said contractors won't give a monkeys, plus workmen don't 'graft' like they used to (runs and hides). At the risk of starting a fight, the biggest problem must be that most employees basically don't do their job properly.

The other narrative was what utter bellends members of the public are. They seem not to be able to comprehend that a 'Road ahead closed' sign means that the road is closed and they cannot pass.

When all the potholes have merged the council will want to know why you are complaining about a solitary pothole.......

In their defence there probably wasn't a mechanism in place to pay them back - not everyone is a Titanium Amex toting PH director

I use https://www.fixmystreet.com/ Potholes reported there, especially deep ones, will get a swift response as the stats are monitored by Central Govt. My best was reporting a 4incher on my local industrial estate. The council were out a week later to relay the entire road and I got the smoothest road outside a race track you've ever seen.

Sounds like a genric pattern format "docu-soap-mentry". Things go wrong!! people shout at each other!! people talk to the camera about other people being stupid!! yes your TV station can have a generic pattern format docu-soap-mentry, just take the tired worn out mind numbing format and add a setting! Any setting!! evan something as mind numbingly boring as roadworks!!

Those endless "piece to camera" bits are starting to piss me off. I hope it's just a fad and disappears like all the shaky and up the nostril 'Network 7" camera work, so loved by 1980/90s producers.

Not saying they are, but they probably had a fuel card for the trucks. Put the fuel on that. Simples.

What do you do? I can imagine if you don't really use petrol fuelled plant then it may say that.

Our fuel cards let us put unleaded on them specifically for Stihl saws and other petrol powered plant.

I was not aware they might say that. Hoisted by my own petard.

Either way I was sort of wondering why there was no check before leaving base. I think the tone of the phone call sort of relayed he had dropped one.

It just seemed with a lot of it that there was a total lack of co ordination, initiative and willingness amongst them.

Nobody wanted to deal with the issues at hand. I was impressed with the boys who called their boss in the middle of the night to come out in a bloody big truck to remove the tree though.
