Amazon prime sign 'top gear' trio
Discussion
Generally speaking, it has all worked out rather well. We now get both old TG and the new one. So more motoring stuff for everyone. Add in the Quest is doing more and more and ITV4's racing content and you seem able to watch a lot more motoring related content without feeling the need to pay money to that Murdoch

They have revenue but little or no profit. Re-investing to gain market share. Top Gear doesn't really give them market share, but I guess they could spin it that it'll help their video business.
That's not true.http://www.techmarketview.com/ukhotviews/archive/2...

I'm surprised how many people seem to have Prime just for next day delivery. What sort of things are people buying lots of (to justify £80) where it's important to have it next day but not important enough to have it today and therefore buy it locally?
In my case, usually family gifts which I have forgotten about until the very last minute and require to be delivered next day to somewhere at the other end of the country. But it's nice to spot something, think "I'll have that" and have it arrive the next day. And I think that habitually driving round and paying more to buy locally (where "locally" probably means "from a national chain") probably costs more in the long run anyway. Certainly if you value your time and don't actually enjoy town centre shopping. Also, don't forget that the delivery benefit can be shared with up to four additional family members living at the same address.

I've personally never seen a need to have anything I've bought on Amazon delivered any way but the cheapest, preferably free. If something was that urgent then I'd go and buy it the traditional way. However, my father has a Prime account. But at over 80 I had assumed it was more to do with not remembering what on earth he bought if it takes more than a day to arrive or not being alive.

How do you get it on your tv?
Amazon Instant Video Compatible Devices >>>> http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/ontv/devices?ie=U...I'd just like to make a point regarding the whole internet TV debate.
I'm 22...majority of my friends are the same age. Probably 95% of us never watch live TV anymore. We all have Prime and Netflix (equates to like 3/4 pints a moonth price wise) and other catch up apps on devices such as xbox/playstation/apple tv/iphone/ipad, which in this modern age can all be streamed seamlessly to a TV.
Times are and have changed regarding viewing habits for people, and you could argue this is a brilliant move in the long term.
Prime Video is being heavily invested in right now, and already has some great original content included.
But yes, living in a city in the north of Scotland with 70mbps internet helps.

I buy loads of stuff from Amazon because I don't generally have time to go into town to buy things. I got Prime not because of the next-day delivery, but because I was spending more than £80 a year on postage. The fact that the delivery is next-day is just a nice bonus. I'm quite happy they've gone with Prime. It saves me having to shell out for a Netflix account.

Anyway, the move to sign the chaps up is just a way to create a 'halo' show to increase uptake - like Netflix's House of Cards etc... It will be interesting to see how the format of the show will change as presuming it needs to be more relevant to a global audience.

Sounds like a good reason to avoid Amazon to me. These three twerps have been long past their sell by date for some time. They've been make ridiculously self indulgent nonsense with the same old gags week in week out. I wonder if they'll still think it funny to make references to willies and say the word cock on the new show.

The 'free super saver' delivery option policy changed recently, so a spend of over £10 is required to take advantage of it. If people buy a lot on there (and plenty of people do), then it works out financially.Pauly

With many already paying for sky, virgin and the additional packages within this may be a step to far. It certainly is for me. Good luck to them but i'm out.
Its a good point. BT have recently upped their subscription for BT Sport because they have secured more premier league games. I only bought it for MototGP and £240pa is a lot for me to watch MotoGP. We are going to cancel that at the end oof the year and I'm going to sign up to the £90 MotoGP streaming service, so there is an imediate saving there. However, I can now see myself signing up for the Amazon Prime Service. What has annpyed me, is the only devices you can download Prime content to is the Amazon Kindle devices and whilst we have a Samsung, Hudles and an ancient iPad in the house, we don't have any Kindles.
I might watch the occasional YouTube vid on my phone, but I never stream stuff to it, so to take advantage of downloadable content, I shall probably end up buying a Kindle tablet as well!! I like watching TV on my train journey in the mornings and streaming is pretty useless for that, especially on the line I use.

You avoid Amazon, I will be too busy avoiding Evans.TommoAE86 said:
Bit disappointed really, tried both and stuck with Netflix as it was a vastly superior service for me. Don't overly like amazon but I still buy things that I can't get anywhere else so can't be too critical. Next Day delivery is wasted on me, a whopping 3 things I've bought this year... Bye bye that trio!
Same here, online streaming through various sites it is for me when they make the new show.bakerstreet said:
