Looking forward to this as previous series were great. Hope they show a recap of previous series though as can't remember where it ended up

Thought it was ste to be honest. Really disappointing, very little happening and a complete change for the worse from the film and 86' & 88'.

I thought it was great, nice to see it back.
Very funny too, though if the past ones are anything to go by, the fun may be short lived.

Shaun going off the rails?

Enjoyed it, but only because I've watched the previous series. Wasn't much of a storyline though.

Haven't seen the previous series - but this, I thought, would be a must watch, as I'm a man of a certain age who grew up in Manchester.

Aside from the soundtrack, I thought it was a bit disappointing. Maybe you need to have bought into the characters from the earlier series - but I can't see that it'll make it onto my Sky planner.

I think you need to watch the previous installments really, the characters have already been through a lot before now.

I really enjoyed it.

I thought it was fairly poor actually. I've been looking forward to this for a while too. The main cast were ok apart from Gilgun. But those two tts in the shades and track suits were awful.

I hope it improves.

The previous series and the film all started slowly like tonight's episode. I'm sure by the time it's done it'll be a lot different.

Exactly, give it time and it will build.

You can't take one series in isolation either, you need to start with the film where the story begins.

Underwelmed by the 1st episode but will give it time, if only for the background music.

This exactly. I loved the movie and the previous TV series. Great mix of characters, tragedy, comedy, grittyness and realism with an authentic atmoshphere thrown in. This one should have been great (given I was 17 in '92) and it's my era, my music. It wasn't bad but I was a bit underwelmed too. I'll stick with it and see how it builds.

I quite liked them. In 1990 my home town was full of blokes in Nova SR's dressing like they were in Top Gun, oblivious to the change of the decade.

Slow start to this, but I expect it to be a grower.

I was rather disappointed in this as well, too much focus on very boring stuff (living room scene where the bloke came out of the cabinet anyone?)

Not sure how it'll redeem itself to be honest. Trying to hard to be fly-on-the-wall rather than a drama.

5/10

Not overly impressed with it.
Not a patch on the other series.
