Now TG is on there - it's a lot to shell out - is there anything good on there. Always found the other streaming sites underwhelming

The girlfriend has a Kindle phone. It came with 1 year free prime, we watch amazon prime now and again, but it's exactly the same as netflix in my opinion.

The only saving grace of the prime package is the free delivery on amazon products, i suppose netflix or that odeon on demand thing don't have a shopping website linked in.

Other thread here discussing it's merits.

Free 30 Day trial here for you to judge for yourself.

And I still don't understand why what equates to £1.50 a week is a lot to shell out?

Tried it, discovered that anything I actually wanted to watch had an extra charge associated with it.

Binned it.

There is loads of good stuff on there...Bosch and Transparent are the last two series I watched and thought they were very good.

I think Prime is worth it for the next day delivery alone - saves me far more than £79 in petrol I would use nipping to the shops for stuff.

Pretty much this. We had a year's trial and within a few months everything that we wanted to watch had an extra charge.

Another thing that irritated was the habit of making season 1 of a programme free to Prime to hook you in, only to find an extra charge to carry on.

I got it because I buy inordinate amounts of crap from the Internet mostly Amazon. It's expensive but I easily save more than it costs in shipping plus it gets here the next day.

There are a few interesting series on there and a few films. So for me it's just an added benefit. I don't use it much but it's nice to have ,

If I was buying just that service then I would say it wasn't worth it, but for my use it's nice to have the extra benefits.

Except that they use DPD so the reality is that very few things do actually arrive the next day. I got so fed up with their Prime "service" that I've binned both Prime and Amazon itself.

I suspect that there will be other ways of watching the TG replacement without having to deal with Amazon

I've never had DPD deliver anything from Amazon - only Amazon Logisitics and Royal Mail.

Saying that, DPD (when I have used them in the past) have been one of the most reliable companies out there - even giving you a narrow time slot for the delivery by text.

I think you might just be unlucky and live in a bad area for them?

Same here. Extremely annoying for a service you're already paying for. I find Netflix far better value.

At least you get the option to watch the first season of many shows and then decide to buy it if you want it after.

How much do you really expect for £6.60 a month?

NetFlix is no different - you won't find the latest seasons of new shows on there either...

Regardless, Prime is more about the next day delivery than the Instant Video - that is what you are really paying for.

Absolutely!

Over the past year, I have ordered from Amazon around 500kg in weight lifting plates, amongst many other things. For me, the £79 per year membership has more than paid for itself.

I must do as they have been disgraceful, so much so that before ordering anything online I check which courier will be used and won't buy if it's them (and let the retailer know this).

Amazon wouldn't guarantee not to use them, so I don't use Amazon.

Im in the I buy enough from them to make having it a no brainer, the films are just a bonus ,no one has mentioned the free music they have just bought out which again is just an added bonus.

As to DPD Ive only once had a problem with them and that was the first time they delivered ,after that problem was ironed out they have yet to let me down.

Had it on a trial earlier on this year, didn't think it was worth continuing so cancelled, then they had the offer where it was £59.99 for a day, so decided to buy it then (opening up the 1 day offer thing they did where I bought something which was £40 off for a few hours getting most of my money's worth).

I don't think the video content is great. Tends to be old stuff available, the latest series are just not there, nor is the selection that wide. However, that with unlimited music (ad-free so matching Spotify's £10 a month subscription), plus unlimited photo cloud storage (how much would that cost from an independent place?), plus 1 day delivery on anything Amazon stock (great for last minute presents) it actually works out at quite good value. I'll probably renew next year at £80. The photo backup is probably worth that to me alone to be honest. Probably save a lot in fuel and parking fees not to mention time and lowered stress.

Plus we have a baby, so discount on nappies, wipes, etc is good too. Having a baby means I don't get the time to take advantage of the free book lending on there too, which would also appeal to a lot out there (I wrote a book which is free to read for Prime subscribers!).

If you are looking for a car seat for a young child they appear to have the Britax Evolva on a "cheap" deal today..

We're a couple of months in, it really comes into its own with a Fire TV Stick, loving it so far.

- Free delivery: Already chipping away significantly at the original cost, especially with Christmas coming up. All but one next day delivery has arrived next day (and always by Amazon Logistics, they credited me with an extra month of Prime for that one missed delivery), a big difference to a few years ago when they would send Prime stuff by First Class mail.

- No Rush delivery: Often 2-3 days max and you get £1 credit each time to use against movie/TV rentals, including plenty of very current stuff (i.e. Jurassic World). There appears to be no limit on this (I've split orders into multiples and put them through one after the other...£2 credit!)

- Prime Video: Not going to set the world on fire, probably about equal with Netflix in terms of new movie content but a lot less 'filler', miles off the likes of Now TV, but so is everyone else. The TV content is expanding rapidly with some excellent exclusive stuff. I love the X-Ray feature through the Fire Stick (basically a clever IMDB that you can pop up at the bottom of the screen, gives you scene specific cast etc), hard to live without now.

- Amazon Photos: Hardly ever mentioned, but really useful. We've got about 100GB of photos on there now, always nice to have another off-site backup (I'm a photographer).

£6.58 per month well spent in my opinion, the free delivery alone probably justifies it if you use Amazon a lot, the rest is very welcome icing (we've ditched Netflix, so more savings).
