To you maybe but not to the people posting on this thread. You can disagree but I think calling it ridiculous is a bit strong.

The only time I'd watch a film again is if there is absolutely nothing else to watch.I don't see the point, you know what's going to happen.
There are so many films made you can't possibly have watched them all.
I have to agree.

I have watched SOME films more than once, but I have few DVDs (and some of those I've not even watched once!) and I don't really see the point of watching any film 'again and again'

I also agree that the comparison with a song is poor. Music can bring back a flood of memories or just stir emotions with a few bars in a way that a 2 hour film doesn't.

Watching a film again and again is like reading a book again and again, I don't do that either.

I can see now why you watch a film more than once. You clearly can't take all the details in the 1st time round.
Just like you say I called it ridiculous whereas if you re-read my post I said no such thing smile

Plus not everyone on this thread agrees with you

Its a static image as opposed to a moving image. I assume you have video of your family. I assume you are defending having photos and probably video as you enjoy looking at the photos on a repeat basis and repeat viewing on the video.

People enjoy repeat viewing of things including film and listening to music a second or more times.
Yes, they do. I do too, as I said in my earlier post - but I wouldn't choose to rewatch films on purpose when there are plenty more I've yet to watch for even the first time. I listen to music too, and don't turn off the radio in disgust if I've heard a song before. But I don't buy cds, tellingly.

I'm not sure what you're driving at comparing static and moving images. But yes, you're quite right, I do enjoy looking at photos and video of my family doing things. Although even then I'd rather watch my daughter do something new than rewatch old videos of her doing something I've already seen.

Mind you, I don't really see a parallel between watching videos of my loved ones and rewatching Goodfellas or something. Perhaps they might appear equivalent to you but to me they don't I'm afraid.

Still; feel free to dismiss my opinion because it's different.

You implied its ridiculous to watch a film more than once.

Im not asking them to. But im not saying they are ridiculous if they don't agree which is your stance.

You should, first and last of both series are very good.

Enduring Love
Road to Perdition.
American Graffiti
Mediterraneo
The Girl on a Bridge
Sliding doors
Fargo
Pulp Fiction
The Krays
The Commitments

Some films are so good, it doesn't matter if you know the story and ending.

I've never liked background music (it's like folk that have the TV just on when no-one is watching it), or 3 minute pop tunes at all really but my favourite music I'll listen to time and again, without any distraction or interruption, I find it hugely absorbing.

Cotty, the only person who's said anything is ridiculous is me, when I said it would be ridiculous for me to rewatch films I've already seen when there are so many more I've not seen even once.

You then started talking about songs and photographs, but none of your analogies have made me feel like rewatching Mission Impossible tomorrow night instead of going to see Rogue Nation. I just like to watch new films I suppose.

Whereas I have the radio on constantly...unless I'm watching a re-run of Titanic obviously wink

Wow, some wierdos on PH today.

Anyway, Platoon and Aliens I can watch over and over. If I happen to switch on the telly and either is on, that's it I'm settled until they are finished.

Grand Torino is on Spike tonight. Saw it recently and liked it so may just give it another go. Sort of a cross between a Hicksville Harry Brown and good morning Vietnam without the humour smile
