Uh, almost all USA shows that air in the UK are like this. Think yourself lucky you don't have to wait half a year like some programmes.

It's just like films too, they're released months after in the UK.

Not any more ... on the pay TV channels anything that's even vaguely a 'hot property' now will go out within a few days or a week at most because the TV companies who buy the shows know that people will get it off the internet and then they'll lose the viewers.

Top rated shows like GoT and TWD went out in the UK the next evening and even less high profile stuff like Hannibal or Defiance is only a week or two behind.

FtWD is a huge show (best ever cable audience for the debut) and was touted as the reason to get AMC channel/BT TV so it's a screwup of massive proportions by BT not to be able to have it out on their package in a reasonable timeframe.

A lot of them still don't though. I'm talking about lesser shows here, like Two and a Half men when it was running, South park, family guy etc. they' all come weeks/months after.

I imagine FTWD is a week behind because based on the first episode, it's not "hot property"

I'm not talking about the st no-one watches or cares about. I'm talking about the two most popular shows on the planet for viewer numbers and torrenting. And this will be another. If you don't understand the point I'm making then I can't help you any more.

I understand your point, but I don't see FTWD being a huge hit. If you'd seen the first episode, you'd know why.

And I'm not sure how you can say any of the shows I named are classed as "crap no one watches or cares about"

Three of the most popular shows ever made.

Apart from setting the all time cable ratings record you mean? I think you need to revise your definition of a hit!

I'm massively fked off that AMC and BT haven't got their act together to launch their channel in good time.

Instead this will go out a week after its gone in the states meaning UK viewers are a week behind unless they want to torrent it.

hehe

Quite. It's the most anticipated TV series in... ever. Since GoT and TWD.

I think YOU need to revise your definition of a hit.

There's a huge difference between a successful show, and a hit.

People tune into programs in anticipation that they will be good, but that doesn't mean that they will be.

How many people went and saw 50 Shades of Grey? ALOT. Doesn't mean it's s good movie.

10m+ tuned into the first episode of FTWD, but that doesn't make it good.

I guarantee the number of viewers will drop since significantly after that mediocre first episode.

Wasn't bad but nothing much happened really did it? A bit too much padding introducing too many characters. The original TWD pilot was much better, not much action in that either but more effective in building the dread. Still worth watching though.
I didn't watch this, but I think you're wrong about the original WD pilot, I think the series has struggled to match that and the first few episodes ever since.

I could easily be wrong, but I struggle to think of a 'spin-off' I enjoyed (All the non-Vegas CSI are a bit dreary as are all the Law and Order spin offs, although I enjoyed the UK one, but really only for Bradley Walsh's totally believable copper).

I'm not going to start in on another series. I sometimes think I'll give up on WD!

Of course, but when you launch a show and you are wanting advertising revenue (or in the case of BT additional subscribers) it's probably a good idea to not leave yourself open to torrent downloaders.

First episode is free on AMC.com. Watching it now cast to my TV.

It's pretty boring and there are US ads every five minutes so it's like being over the pond biggrin

Ar that'd do my head in. I used to watch live streams of the NHL games online and found it hilarious / annoying how they stopped play every 5 minutes to advertise the latest pickup truck offers laugh

ALso, thanks to HBO Go, their premium stuff (where Sky thinks they'll be an audience) screens simultaneously.

Not really sure if it was good or bad!

Seemed to flow well, the acting was good and it all gelled well, but there were points I found myself thinking 'erm would the junkie kid really have the piece of mind to put the car in to reverse to run the dealer over etc?
