Of course every one is dragging their feet, they don't know what's happening.

But the thing is, nobody ever mentions or thinks of the word 'zombie' in these shows.

Like when the high school kids are watching the clip of the guy on the ground biting the cop on their phones.. At least one teenager would say 'wow, maybe it's a zombie?'.

It kinda annoys me (and it shouldn't, I know) that TWD and FTWD are set in a sort of parallel universe where even the concept of zombies has never existed prior to these events..

The mother seems off her face.

She'd already seen a Zombie but when she saw the principle zombie was all 'we'll get you help' stupid bh deserved to get bitten

Next episode isn't until the 13th of September too.

Exactly what I was thinking. Who writes this stuff and expects us to swallow it?

Though I'd be able to watch the AMC channel, but I can't, so sod FTWD and sod the Shield and Mad Men repeats then! biggrin

The TWD writer explained that zombies aren't a known thing in the world TWD inhabits hence no one talking about zombies.

Pretty standard thing in horror movies, I guess it would somewhat break the immersion if you're going for a serious tone

This sounds a bit lame.

The irony is that Shaun of the Dead is still one of the best zombie films out there despite not taking these things too seriously and ending up with something what would probably really happen, rather than over thinking it and it becoming a load of bks.

Walking dead held promise till about the 4th episode when the characters started to not have brains because it helped poor writers return to the 'people with issues in situation XYZ' approach to all these crappy series we see these days.

Watched it for the first time last night on AMC and I'm quite impressed. Not the normal run of the mill zombie show. Yet to figure out how to kill them laugh

Liked it. Very tense. Good build up.

We know what's coming, they don't.

So many good little touches that feel close to reality, the idea teenagers dismiss footage as fake, the Internet nerds know but no one believes them, the first major public incidents stem from police shootings, riots occur without many people understanding why, the authorities attempts to cover it up make it worse not better.

Having read and been a massive fan of World War Z it feels a lot more like that than the movie made of the same name!

Spot on analysis there and agree about the feeling like World War Z book.

I see where people are going with the WWZ comparisons but this seems like it will end a million miles away from that. It seems that the family will be the central characters and no doubt they’ll meet people along the way.

Probably the book I’ve read cover to cover the most and always thought it would make for an awesome series rather than the shower of poo that was the film (I didn’t think it was a particularly awful film but just so far removed from the book). The Zombie genre seems to be very saturated at the moment so I don’t think it will happen, they had a chance to do something a bit fresher with this series but it doesn’t look like it will go that way.

My only points so far against the series are that we already know how it ends which is hard to get past and I worry that they'll rush the initial outbreak and suddenly it'll be original Walking Dead already. I realise it'll go fast but surely there's enough to see along the way for at least a few series before it all goes a bit Rick Grimes beards and mud?

I was sort of annoyed that the only character with a sense of what's going on and what's to come has to be a stereotypical basement dweller....

We have the advantage of having read WWZ and watched 5 Series of the Walking Dead though!

Same here - I left the series link on more in hope than expectation and lo and behold, as expected, I got the "Subscribe to this channel to view this programme" message when I tried to play it back.

I doubt I can be bothered to torrent it, so it looks like I won't be bothering with FTWD until it makes an appearance on a free to air channel.

It is incredibly quick and easy to torrent if you've got something to watch it on, you don't need to miss the show.

Although on account of your username I'd like to specify for the record that piracy is wrong and something I have never partaken in...
