You could tell from the body language of the judges and audience that it was tempered jubilation when the result was announced.
The judges reaction to the announcement wasn't shown, something we thought was a bit odd last night. The first you saw was them on their feet quite a while afterwards applauding. As for the audience, they do whatever the floor managers boards tell them to - boo, shriek, applaud or wet their knickers...

I watched it on catch up late last night and I see it like this:

Giovanni was never going to partner the winner in his first year as a pro because he wasn't Vincent IYSWIM, and having a very young partner in Georgia who hadn't got a massive fan base (or a memorable personality can I dare to suggest?) probably sealed the deal.

I did think Kellie might snatch it on the night, especially having Kevin as a partner who played to her skills very well throughout the series, but she did 2 "non-serious" (albeit very very good) dances out of 3 in the final which may have had an impact, no matter how well(cough-over)-marked she was by the judges.

Jay's a bit of a curate's egg, came bottom with the judges by a margin on the night, was always extremely shy and unexpressive, but you could see he was loving what he was doing, and was probably the best all-round dancer in the series I thought. He also had the hardest job as the male lead, but importantly he was the one man on the evening, and I'm sure(?) that there must be more female than male voters.

An honourable mention for Katie. I'd sort of had a thing for her for some time, and her grace last night (as opposed to Anton's recidivist buffoonery on occasion, albeit good to see him bow out as a dancer on a high note as a finalist) was lovely to see - she knew she wasn't as good as the others, gave it her best, came up as short as expected, and bowed out with a smile.

A final dishonourable mention for Len who has, in his terms, got right on my wick this series, especially with the continued stupid asides to the audience, and generally sneery and unpleasant attitude to dances and dancers he didn't like (mind you, even that's better than his "I'm really sorry, I'd like to give you a good mark, I really would routine!). Time to go, to be replaced by Craig, who is absolutely ready to be Head Judge.

A very enjoyable series all round, I thought, see you all next year smile
Bang on.
Indeed. I can't argue with any of that. yes

Don't know if it's been said before but there's only one reason that Kellie bird didn't win it and that's lack of humility! The British love an underdog!
I personally hoped anyone but her would win . I'm afraid she might be the best dancer but she just isn't very likeable and that's why she was in the dance offs.
Just to add I know bugger all about dancing!

They need to stop the audience booing the judges. It's fking irritating and spoils the programme for me.

Aliona is rather lovely but we have to be very wary of these Russian-Kazakhstanians, you never know what they might have concealed in their clothing !
Don't worry, I will happily have a rummage to check.

It's a good point. Think that's why Katie and Anton did better than perhaps their dancing deserved. Kellie seemed a little entitled, although not massively. Jay had humility if a little dull.

I'll just go on record and say I'm quite in love with Katie. Lovely classy girl with legs that go on forever. As far as MILF threesomes go I don't think you could better Katie and Darcy. Wibble.

I must admit Katie is a was lovely however I would say she was guilty of over smiling, I felt at times she was trying so hard to smile it looked painful.
Kellie on the other hand was a little too East End, having it large thumbs in her waistcoat proper purley queen stylee

I just wanted Georgia to win as her Charleston just looked so immensely fun and enjoyable for her and Giovanni.

Horses for courses and all that, but I can't stand her. Disingenuous, snooty, smug middle class fakery from start to finish. Sorry but I can't stand her (purely from this show alone, I've never met her obvs, so clearly I'm just being a tool). Not for me sorry.

I'm a little amazed that people can get this excited.

I watched the final, because my Mum likes it and I was staying with them, but honestly I couldn't have cared less which of the 3 won (although the young girl's constant crying was rather annoying).

Someone won, someone else won last year, someone else will, probably, win next year.

It's really doesn't matter...

I wanted Georgia to win and I really respected what Kellie did juggling the full time job as well, there isn't any doubt that Jay can dance but I have seen table legs with more personality than he has and it was like watching paint dry listening to him.

Jay did have it the hardest though with him having to lead versus the ladies I suppose.

Well of course you couldn't. I could turn on any sport or contest where I didn't know any of the contestants and had no interest in the outcome, and not care less who won. What's your point here?

Nothing matters. Nothing we do makes any difference in the grand scheme of things, not even stuff that you are interested in. We'll all be dust in 100 years. So, again, what's your point?

The men might have to lead, but the women have to dance the same steps...BACKWARDS and in HEELS! wink

I'm just surprised at the degree of passion that some seem to have about a programme that's really just a celebrity popularity show.

You can't really expect a programme where the winner is selected by a phone/internet poll to pick the 'best' dancer (and I doubt many here are qualified to judge that, but equally we've seen that the judges are happy to manipulate the result to suit the agenda of the programme makers, so really there's very little impartiality anywhere in Strictly).

It's a bit of TV fluff for a Saturday night with nothing more than a celebrity's ego boost at stake.

There's NOTHING wrong with that, in some ways it's perfect Saturday night entertainment, but some of the posts here suggest that something important was really at stake, with words like 'robbed' and 'unfair'.
