Brilliant film,it's the woman's eyes I always remember(cant remember her name) and the bubblegum line.Oh and that catchy little tune that runs throughout, stuck in my head now.
That catchy little tune is a trademark of Carpenters. See: Assault on Precinct 13 and a pared down version in The Thing for similarly atmospheric background noise. 'Assault' still rings in my head now..last seen it many years ago."Once you go in, you don't come out."
Recently found this on YT. I'd completely forgotten he also made Halloween, now there's a theme.
He had an ability to install a feeling of dread in a viewer that no-one since has surpassed IMHO. Fincher has some of his flair and I thought It Follows had a decent crack at it recently also.
thought I'd watch a blaxspoitation film and so ended up watching Boss - very much a product of its time there were a few nice touches but over all (beyond the shock value title and theme music of the same name) it is, at heart, just another early 70's western without the charm of the Sergio Leone spaghetti

'Grosse Pointe Blank'. Must be a decade or so since I last saw it. It's still awesome!
Wow, there's a film I've not heard of for ages, loved it last time I watched it. Will have to dig it out.VEA said:
We watched Daylight at the weekend.
You can't beat a good 90's disaster film.
A thing I still don't get in that film is when Stallone first appears in the hole and one of the prisoners lifts a rock to try and kill him only for a gas explosion to kill him instead...You can't beat a good 90's disaster film.
... Then everyone's crowded around the crim while he gives his whole tell my mother I love her speech like he's just done something noble. I may have to revisit the film in case I'm remembering wrong.

Nope, you remember it right. It is slightly odd, I think it's more about the realisation that they could, and probably will, all die.... 11 out of 10 - yes absolutely brilliant entertainment with lots of fast action, hand held camera work and a 'heart in mouth' rooftop chase early on. Stunning scenes 'on location' in Paris.
OK - I was easily impressed but for now, the best film seen this year.
Watch out for Thierry Godard who was the front line cop in Spiral but this time on the wrong side of the law.
Enjoy.
