Hateful 8

Formulaic yes, but it's his formula and nobody does it better. 8/10
I watched this last night and thought it was rubbish.
I love QT and I love his formula but in this film I thought his characters, dialogue and music were all second rate.
First one of his films that actually bored me.
I didn't hate it by any means but didn't think it lived up to his other films
4/10
Not his best work and perhaps my score benefits from a comparative drought of worthwhile film - that is to say 'average' becomes 'good' when all is 'poor'.
Definitely get that.
I feel like I only watch about 2 or 3 decent films each year recently. I think perhaps the converse of this is that due to this H8 was one of the very few I was really looking forward to thus my score was artificially low due to disappointment.
Let's compromise on 5.8/10 (sorry I can't stretch to a 6)

Warcraft - Went with my son. I played all parts including '94 Orcs&Humans, and felt the film was somehow lacking. My son never played it, and loved it to bits scratchchin
Have to say this is arguably the best video game film I've seen.

Odd simile... why do nuns have flat chests?

OK, I'm not really interested in X-Men movies, I admit it biggrin

M.
You haven't seen Nude Nuns with Big Guns yet? Definitely not flat chested in that one...

yes

Got 'The Big Short' to watch this weekend, and hopeful it will be one of the few that meet my expectations this year. We'll see...

Latest Almodovar is getting middling reviews sadly.

The industry as a whole needs a defib

13 hours, the something soldiers of Benghazi. Catchy title huh?

Actually a quite good true story of security contractors in Libya. After the fall of Gaddafi.
Much better than I was expecting although it was a bit Ye Ha America but not enough to annoy me.
IMDB 7.5
Me solid 7
Just seen this 7/10

Is it on a streaming service like Netflix or Amazon - or did you find it elsewhere?

Spotlight

Watched it after mark kermode said it was good and I thoroughly agree with him.

I'm not letting our priest touch my secret place anymore that's for sure!

WuakiTV is doing a 99p any movie rental deal this weekend.

So we watched Bridge of Spies last night. Excellent movie, if a little slow to start. Hanks is as good as always. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Battle scenes were really well done but everything else is pure Michael Bay. Horribly cheesy and melodramatic at times, more American flags than you can wave a stick at and TBH I never really felt that much of a sense of threat, more mild confusion.

Not a bad film, it just pales in comparison to something like Black Hawk Down.

Watched this again last night.

I love the little touches, like when Brad Pitt is talking about selling the CDOs and then says he has to go for his colonic, or woman at Standard & Poor with really bad eyesight!

I don't think it helped that all the beardy men looked the same.
I massively hate ye ha America when shoehorned into a film but didn't find it too bad in this.
You're dead right though, not a patch on Black Hawk Down

Point break, the remake.
4/10.

I just don't understand why people bother making such clichéd dross. Every big moment in the film was drawn from The Big Book Of Big Movie Moments. Oh and accompanied by a manly anguished "aggrrr" cry.
