Bridesmaids - seem to recall enjoying it at the time but it's pretty st tbh. They c/should have made a very funny & crude 45 minute broadcast episode instead

yes That was brilliant. Of course, with my geek hat on, given that he doesn't stop time but rather goes very very fast, if he moved people's arms / hands that quickly they would simply snap. And he'd not be able to deflect the bullets like that either. Inertia, kinetic energy and impulse (force/time) would all play a big factor and to make that effect over such a small time, he'd need a correspondingly massive force. And there would be an equal and opposite reaction to him, which would break his fingers. But, physics aside, it was brilliant. biggrin

Ghostbusters apparently bhes ain't gonna bust no ghosts but in actual fact, they do, superb stuff. 8 maybe 9/10.

Independence Day: Resurgence it felt like bits were cut out To reduce the running time, film is a serviceable sequel 7/10.

Doesn't the fact he moves quicker than the bullets give him the kinetic force?

Finding Dory.

Very good.

9/10.

The short at the start (Piper I think) was stunning. It actually looked real. Pixar at the top of their game.

10/10
Went to see this last night, and agreed on both points. Hank the octopus was a great character, especially the expressions for something with a mouth you can't see. If Finding Nemo is a 10, then yes Finding Dory is a 9.

Piper was a great little story, and the animation in some parts did look real.

Hmmm possibly. But he'd probably pulp his fingers and shatter his bones. smile

I know, I know, I am applying real world physics to a silly film. But it's one of my little bugbears - you are asked to will a suspension of disbelief on their abilities but it is meant to be set in the physical world which means that, unless the laws of physics are explicitly bent or broken as part of the suspension of disbelief (eg. The Matrix) then... ah never mind. More wine please.

Oldboy (2013) - man that is one weird fked-up film (though the Scarlet Witch has some nice thrups)
Watch the original Japanese version if you haven't already - much better!

Past couple days I've watched:

Let's Be Cops - Basic comedy, pretty funny in parts, 6/10

Sicario - Really like this, very tense at times, good film, 7.5/10

Hardcore Henry - Just finished this, great film, utter madness throughout, stupid violent fun, 8/10 as far as a 90 minute fun film goes it serves the purpose very well

Finding Dory. Maybe it was just me but I thought it just ok. I couldn't quite put my finger on it as to why though. My 8 year old daughter thought the same.

It looked great, but I think I found some of the supporting characters annoying - The octopus was brilliant though, I'll say that.

The short at the beginning was brilliant - visually and the story. It did look real in places....

Independence Day: Resurgence Utter bilge, not even the fact it's supposed to be US cheese redeemed this crap. Redeeming points? effects were mad, but even as a brain off waste of an hour or so, it failed to hold my attention. 2/10

Criminal Decent cast, odd premise, but a decent action film I thought, Costner convinced as a mad, bad off the chain nutjob. As a brain off waste of an hour or so, this succeeded!
CIA operatives' memories are implanted into an emotionless ex-con so that the details of a weapons trade could be recovered before the bad guys get the tech.. Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman.... not up to their usual standard but good enough for me. 7.1/10

Saw this last night. It was OK I thought. The action / fight sequences and car chases were very well done but there was too much 'purposeful' walking around for me - I mean, how many times do you need to show Bourne walking through a crowded place and outwitting the CIA, despite being under close observation?

6/10

The mucked about dialogue between the Emperor and Vader still annoys me.

Jason Bourne

I wanted to love it, but the only person more bored than me was Tommy lee Jones. It's great to see Damon back as Jason Bourne, but it's just all very dull.
I think I must be the only one that prefers Doug Limans work on the first film to the Parkinson's inspired shaky camera work of Paul Greengrass.
Very average. In fact the Bourne legacy is probably, scratch that, definitley more entertaining.

5/10

Star trek. I hadn't realised that 'Into Darkness' was an instruction to the writers of the next film. Either that or the economics of the 23rd century are different to our own, because they can't afford any light bulbs.

It has moved disappointingly far away from the star trek concept of fixing things in unexpected ways, and shooting people as a last resort. Now we have multiple instances of tedious hand-to-hand chop-socky to get through before we can get on with the actual plot, which is very sparse even when it arrives.

They should get the firefly writers in to do the next one.

6/10. Mostly for McCoy and Spock.

Spot on, it was as if they decided on the sequel, filmed the action scenes and then realised they needed a plot and excuse why Bourne had to go off the rails again, and discover something new in those Treadstone files that was strangely missed in the first 3.

Even the much lauded action/chase scenes got boring and unoriginal - oh look he's driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic, never seen that before.

Fight scenes are more slugfests with none of the biro weapon, jump through window originality of the early films

All that said it is reasonable popcorn movie so 5/10 is fair, just disappointing for the Bourne franchise which had more intelligence than that
