Films I watched this week

I really like Interstellar, it goes into the sci-fi area of quantum which I enjoy. I did like COntact, but the hocus pocus at the end lets it down.
I prefer Contact to Interstellar. Is the ending of Contact hocus pocus or science? This is the whole question at the centre of the film.
Swiss Army Man
One of the weirdest, most charming, sad/funny and worrying films I've seen in a very long time.
Bloke is stranded on an island....and rescued by a dead guy (played by Daniel Radcliffe)...
I don't have anymore words than that. I don't even know how to score it. I think I enjoyed it, I certainly couldn't turn it off....and I'll watch it again one day..
umm... it's one of kind.

They leave it up to faith, yet there is solid tape evidence, 14 hours of something happening, but Terrerdrome guy doesn't tell anyone, so the religious Mcconnerhay can put himself on the same level as factual evidence, which is why it falls down, I guess an AMerican film has to do that.Is the ending of Contact hocus pocus or science? Ha! I loved Contact & Interstellar too!
I'd say contact overall is a better film. Not without its issues.Interstellar ignoring the beginning and end, just the bit in the middle when they get into space has got to be some of the best sci-fi ever laid on screen in my humble opinion.
I caught Passengers last night - I really enjoyed it and it kept me gripped until the end.
However, it was the ending that let it down, I think. The whole ending just seems utterly rushed through - We see them at the bar with Arthur and then it seems to just finish. I think it deserved a slightly longer ending really - And the close, where the film ends and the credits start, was a bit of a shock as it goes from quiet and contemplative to just loud stty music that didn't seem to fit the film.
And one thing that I couldn't understand was how come they never had any children? But I did love the obvious nod to scenes from The Shining (the bar/bartender and the hammer on the crew door)

Sorry to dig up Ghostbusters again but with nothing else on last night, the wife and I flicked over to Sky Premiere and gave it ago as it had been on every night this week.
Decided not to take it too seriously or analyse it too much as was tired, and you not what? It wasn't terrible and I confess to giggling a fair bit.

More big love for Passengers here, loved how they connected at the end, but the actual ending...maybe he had the snip via the auto-doc.However, it was the ending that let it down, I think. If you look in the Passengers thread they have the ending as it was originally written. Darker, but still with life affirming qualities
I dolove this film though, two of my fave US actors
Passengers Really enjoyed it as did the OH, Jennifer Lawrence is just but I agree that the ending felt rushed, one of those films where it could've done with another half hour. 7/10 from me.
Deepwater Horizon Not a bad showing from Walberg, but I can't stop thinking about Ted when he speaks so it takes some of the drama away for me, I used to work offshore so it hit home quite hard about the dangers offshore, some parts were 'over hollywood' but that's to be expected. Malkovich didn't get enough dialogue to work with IMO. Another 7/10 from me.

Yeah I saw that recently too - really enjoyed it but agree on the ending being weak.
I thought a better ending would have been if he had died and then, unable to handle the isolation and loneliness, she woke somebody up
That's where I thought it should've gone, but having seen reports of it being very "hollywood" I knew that was the last place it was going! I thought a better ending would have been if he had died and then, unable to handle the isolation and loneliness, she woke somebody up
