Area 51 - 3/10 (7/10 for the first hour or so, 0/10 for the last 20)
I know, it has appalling reviews, I only have myself to blame...but, I've loved the mythology of Area 51 since the days of X-Files and whilst I've grown out of the whole alien angle, it's still a fascinating place from an aviation perspective where amazing things undoubtably happen.
The first 45 minutes with the planning, how they work around the various sensors etc and arriving at the Little A'Le'Inn was pretty solid, the next 20 minutes working their way into and through the base is also pretty solid (the inside of the base itself is really well and dare I presume quite realistically done).
Then, it gets silly, then it gets even sillier, then I just want to throw the remote at the screen.
Having spent years as a youngster imagining what it would be like to somehow get near the base I really enjoyed what is the bulk of the film, they keep it quite well grounded. I'm just annoyed that it's a place with so much rich source material yet nobody has managed to put an even vaguely enjoyable film together about it.

The Stone Tapes - saw Mark Kermode saying how scary it was. Main problem for me is that it's incredibly dated, not just in effects but the fact it looks like a stage play and has what are now very uncomfortable racial stereotypes. That said, there is a certain creepiness to it, and an atmosphere were something just doesn't feel right

I can't actually think of one, or at least the last one I watched on my sky box.
I know I deleted Gross Point Blank because I didn't wanna watch what J Cusack calls acting.
But this is to take the place of the 'good' films and 'bad' films I watched thread.
Why ??I know I deleted Gross Point Blank because I didn't wanna watch what J Cusack calls acting.
But this is to take the place of the 'good' films and 'bad' films I watched thread.
A proper explanation will suffice !!

This is the unification of film threads. One thread to rule them all and in the threadness bind them.
Moolti-thread.

Anyhoo, just watched Battleship. It is a terrible film but not as bad as The Man with the Iron Fist. So damned with faint praise I guess. Best bit was the post credit scene, surprised they used actual Scottish kids, lol!

Me too. Aliens, big guns and AC/DC, what's not to like? Anyone who can't enjoy that film has no joy in their heart.Just re-watched Dredd for the first time in ages and again feel hugely gutted it will never get a sequel. What they achieved on such a relatively small budget (<£30 million) is amazing. I blame Stallone...
So why exactly was the old thread closed? If it was due to a couple of idiots not understanding the title then you're going to have to close half the threads on here, starting with favourite car from the year is was born.
That aside:
Hot fuzz: Classic comedy. Thought I'd give it a rematch. 8.5/10
And in the interest of balance
Terminator genysis. Pointless reboot. Utter trash 4/19
(To be fair I didn't watch terminator this week, so not sure if it is allowed)
