Films I watched this week

Youth
I knew very little about this other than it had good reviews....the tale of a retired composer on holiday trying to make sense of his life.
I watched this at 11pm.
It was slow, wordy, arty, disjointed in as much as it was hard to find the point, direction or story, and I was generally confused.
That said my eyelids did not droop, I did't catch myself watching the end credits without realising how I got there, the script and acting and visuals held my attention easily.
So I end up more confused.
10/6.6

The Drop **Spoiler**
Finally got round to watching last night. Wanted to see at the cinema but didn't get round to it, then seem to recall some rather 'meh' reviews so haven't been in a rush to watch.
I really enjoyed it. Loved Bob, and his interaction with Nadia. I was reminded of Rocky and his blossoming relationship with Adrian by it at times. Eric Deeds was good as the slightly unhinged bad guy, without really doing much... He had that menace.
I couldn't wait for him to get a hiding/whatever was coming to him but the film, and Bob's character, while leading me to expect it also made me wonder if that wasn't actually the way it was going to play out in the end.
When the moment came I don't think I've ever been so joyous at seeing someone get shot in the face The turnaround of Bob from quietly 'tending the bar' to extreme violence was superb I thought. And certainly welcomed in my house.
Quite a plodder but sometimes I enjoy that.
7.5/10 for me.

Pretty much how I felt watching it, particularly the Rockyesque acting. Finally got round to watching last night. Wanted to see at the cinema but didn't get round to it, then seem to recall some rather 'meh' reviews so haven't been in a rush to watch.

Ending was so satisfying
Olympus has Fallen - a real surprise, a plot with holes in it larger than swiss cheese in places but thoroughly entertaining - 6.5/10. Dropped half simply because no way would any of the situations happen but otherwise fun action film.
Not a film but a TV series (sorry!). After hearing about Breaking Bad and finally giving in the other year I have been waiting for something to replace it. Finally started to watch Narcos on Netflix. It is as addictive as the product

Harry Brown, recorded from 5* last night. Bleak film, but very good, in the same kind of way as Clint in Gran Torino (not sure which film came first).
Way bleaker than Gran Turismo....both very good though I think a lot of it is being in the right mood as, like you say, they're a bit bleak.

Lazer Team - 6/10 - kick starter film from the you tube channel/company roosterteeth. I brought in to the kick starter 18 months ago as I love their content. Not a bad movie for their first bash at a full movie. some very funny moments, most of which seem to come from Gavin Free.
I'd like to see a film of Weebl & Bob's "Team Laser Explosion". I suspect it wouldn't be very good though.
'Prisoners', what a great film.
Saw it last night on Channel 4, at 3 hours (with adverts) it's quite a long film, but well worth it.

What in the name of fk. I have turned off films much better than this, this however I just sat watching wondering if it could get any worse, it did.
Unbelievably bad.
