I know what I like and what I don't, what gets in my top ten and what doesn't and for what reasons.
Yes, and in response to your curt and direct replies I wrote 'Are you quite sure?' with a laugh smilie. It's a joke. Geddit? Oh - you didn't.
Sorry Pops, I didn't mean to come across as curt.
I use efficiency of language sometimes if I'm on my phone. Plus I miss the nuance of the chat!
sweet love to you. wink

Prisoners

About the two missing girls. Slow burn to start with but got going and a surprise ending. Blinking good if you get me!
Very good, surprised me a lot. Would have preferred a different ending, think they chickened out and needed it for us audiences.

Deadpool - loved it & would say it's the best CBH film thus far. Actually it's a pretty damn good film full stop, can't understand how it managed to get s lower rating though eek score 15/18

Now..... Can you explain the appeal of these movies. I have no idea how I was able to keep watching this. Just a joke it's a kids film yes? Surely nobody over 9 likes this movie?
no no no - I make it about 12

wooden acting, laughable script, fanciful stunts, see-through plot, zero style and panache

1: Life on the Edge

A film documentary about F1, and the evolution of safety. I saw Max Mosely in a new light, I have to say. And, to some extent, Bernie. I hadn't realised quite what a contribution to safety they had made.

It was a little light on details but, then again, could have very easily got bogged down in them had it had more, so overall it was a good balance.

Currently it is included at no extra cost to Amazon Prime members, which is how I watched it (via my Fire TV on the telly).

I didn't think too much of 1:life on the edge.

What was that documentary on bbc4 "grand prix:the killer years" or something? Much better I thought and covered pretty much the same subject but with infinitely more compassion.

On motorsports films I managed to get a couple of hours to watch Road the other week, the film about the Dunlop family of road racers. Really enjoyed it personally and the Q&A session on the DVD extras was really enlightening, though it's hard not to be entertained by the Dunlop brothers and McPint when they're on form smile
8/10

Also managed Hitting The Apex, the Brad Pitt narrated MotoGP film which was really good, got a wee but dusty with all the super sic footage I must admit but told the story of the MotoGP class every bit as well as TT:Closer To The Edge did for the Isle of Man.
10/10

Deadpool today.

As a comic book adaptation it's an 8, much better than most. As a movie more generally it probably only rates a 5, there is no-one to warm to at all and no real tension given his particular powers. Some fun, some good one liners. Call it 7/10 overall.

I saw Road the day it was released at cinema, and the Q&A was live streamed from the premiere in London to all the cinemas around the UK showing it.

It was me and about a dozen other random bikers in the cinema, all in riding gear. Superb documentary though, the sound was incredible.

Ummm, well I'll be 41 on Tuesday. And I love them. Absolute toss, yes. No doubt. biggrin

But a huge guilty pleasure and I enjoy them massively. It's on again now and had just started when I flicked channels so it's staying on. Even Mrs Johnny is happy to watch again. Although she fell asleep last night so maybe has more excuse than me wink

Divergent

This is included in my Amazon Prime at the moment so I watched it, not really knowing much about it or what to expect.

It was ok, but the plot was rather paper-thin and rather derivative, and I think it may have been a film for teens. Oh well.

Dragon Blade - could have been a good film, unfortunately it wasn't. I'll give this one a lost legion

The Martian 6/10. Admittedly a difficult story to transfer to film, thanks to a lot of technical detail in the book. It looked good but lacked dramatic tension.
I watched this tonight, a 9/10 from me. A great film.
Has Matt Damon ever made a bad movie?

Like any number of iconic PH films The Princess Bride doesn't survive a re-visit well. True the sword fights and one-liners are good, when they occur, but the rest is quite slow and not particularly entertaining. Through the correct spectacles though... .
Inconceivable!

Fruitvale Station - True story. Oscar Grant (played by Creed's Michael B Jordan) is shot by police on.New Years Day 2009 in full view of bystanders filming on phones. The film is about the previous day leading up to the incident. Interesting dramatisation, heavily one-sided but worth.a look. 7/10

I started watching it yesterday but simply couldn't get into it; it just didn't seem to engage me and I turned it off frown
