White House Down.
OK, not a new film but it was on TV recently.
We enjoyed it a lot. A bit like the original "Die Hard" but with a better plot, better action scenes and acting - and less hamming it up.

I hope you mean Olympus has Fallen - that reminded me of Die Hard!

I thought White House Down was terrible - a typical Roland Emmerich movie for kids, where hamming it up was a staple throughout the movie.

When I say 'enjoyed' I mean in a light-hearted entertainment way, not in terms of great cinematography. Mind you, the girl who played our hero's daughter was very good, we thought.

I thought tags were only for new(ish) films and that films that were several years old were fair game? My bad!

That's a shame. It really picks up after the 76th minute....

There's always time for a 'He's gunna kill everyone' type movie!
Speaking of which, I watched >Shoot 'em up< finally after having it for about 6 years on the shelf.

When you start watching it you think "really?" as it's so tongue in cheek. But after a few minutes you realise they're extracting so much urine that it's quite funny. 8/10

Body Count: 151
Reportedly, 15 gallons of fake blood were used.
The budget for squibs alone was $70,000. On average, you can get 50 squibs for $1,000.

And Monica Bellucci is lovely in it.. cloud9

Deadpool - Just awesome from opening credits to the very end! some proper childish humour and full on bad jokes. A comic book movie true to the comics and not trying to make it to serious. rofl

After many years watched The gods must be crazy again. Can't remember when I laughed so much in ages, although it's as thought-provoking as, say, Children of Men. That's what a comedy film should be.

A most amusing film in an extremely gentle way, with the additional, 'makes you think' tagline.
Albert Brooks best film I reckon, soft-sell NY Jewish humour. biggrin

Solace

Anthony Hopkins a reluctant psychic investigator is called out of retirement to help catch a serial killer.

Much, much better than the premise, I found it to be quite a powerful film 8.5/10

Yeah, seconded. What Woody Harrelson added by being Woody Harrelson went away with Kate Winslet doing whatever she was meant to be :/ .
