Can people talk about Marvel superhero crap on a separate "children's films I watched this week" thread?
Ah bless - forgotten how fun life can be?
Whilst such things can be fun. They're generally not worthy of discussion or analysis at even a simplistic level.

If you love film it's hard not to cringe at 'reviews' of Xmen SuperSupandex The Return 7

Depends how much of a film snob one is. Could be worse, could be Hang over 4.

Incorrect. AT least for quite a few of the MCU ones, and maybe the X-Men ones as well, since they were the parallel for those outside the norm back in the 70s.

I'm going to give it 5/10.
Mildly amusing in places but pretty much everything that happened was signposted a mile off. What annoyed me the most was that the central conceit was rubbish. They are phoning in reports, when you call or answer from abroad the ring tone/dialled number appears. Plus when they get kidnapped surely the first thing that would happen is to check phone records. What was the last cell used (New York).
Plus a cafe across the road from the radio station?

Actually 3.5/10

i'm a big RG fan but it was the worst effort by far, I guess when you are surrounded by sycophantic arse lickers everything you do is great to them.

Got back from a dinner party last night and caught the last 30 minutes or so. I'd forgotten just how good it is and need to see it all the way through now.

You can intellectualise a turd if you try hard enough.

Still a turd at the end of the day.

I don't intellectualise anything, but if you don't know or understand the subject material, I can see why you are ignorant of a lot that goes on it in. smile

Couldn't even tell you which was which.

I saw one with a load of teenagers in, that lad from about a boy. Awful.

Saw one with a big floating mega ship at the end. Crap.

It's all crap I'm afraid.

Iron Man, Wolverine, they even fked up Dredd afiac. It's just kids stuff.

Anyway it's just not what I look for in a movie, I am not the intended audience. I like thought provoking often challenging content.

If I just want to chill and watch something mindless it would be something like Fury or Edge of Tomorrow; examples of Hollywood guff I think is tolerable.

Today's escapism was Captain America: Civil War. It's pretty good, really - it's long enough to need an intermission but it is never boring. Despite the spandex it's actually a decent twist on a revenge plot, and though there are lots of characters all the main ones have sane, human, motivations. Some good dialog and in-jokes too. I would give it a 7/10 overall, and 9/10 in it's genre.

I agree most Superhero films are pretty poor, although Marvels own efforts tend to be better than anything from Fox. I also happened to like Dredd a lot and it most definitely isn't a kids film.

Very true Pesty, but he didn't start off like that, his quote was, 'generally not worthy of discussion or analysis at even a simplistic level,' which as even the simplest person can point out is untrue, that though was just cover-up crap as it's the fact he doesn't like them that made him post such ludicrous bullst. I don't challenge people on what they like, it's pointless, but if someone is ignorantly trying to pass off bias as fact, then that sort of retard behaviour will be called.
Th same kind of retard behaviour as saying take discussion of certain films elsewhere. That sort of fkwittery makes me despair at this place at times. It really makes me lose faith. biggrin

I liked Dredd too, the phrase "it's for kids" is just an attempt to shutdown conversation that the poster doesn't like. Rather than just ignore posts about films that aren't for them and post positive reviews of films they've watched that they like, they seem to get perverse pleasure from trying to belittle other posters.

It doesn't work, it just makes them look stupid.
