They Live is one of Carpeneter's best, and very few have a catalogue like he does

Civil War. Wow, the level of this thing satisfied in every way. Went with an actor mate, and we were both impressed by the writing, acting, durection, plot and how it all came together. Very skilful art, loved it and Spidey was very good. The denouement of Zemo's plan choked me up. Maybe my fave MCU.
Certainly should be a case study for DC and complex action films in general.

All you've been trying to do is belittle and mock a genre and the people who enjoy it while conveniently ignoring or responding to the valid points people have made regarding it.
C'mon grow up a bit. They've made their points, I've made mine. Don't get upset over it.

We just watched The Winter Soldier in preparation for this, cannot wait to see it.

Out of interest, I stopped following films for a while. I saw all of the Iron Man series but I believe there has been quite a few more with him in but with other marvel characters, wahts the series called?

Ok I'll be less subtle. Look at the guys posting history. Basically he would start an argument with himself if no one else was around. You are just giving him what he wants.
Your pic wasn't that subtle biggrin

I hadn't noticed him before tbh but I see he's just continuing with the mocking replies to get a reaction, pretty basic trolling I guess and you're right best just to ignore.

Possibly the worse and the best film I have ever seen. I can't make my mind up if it was really that bad.
Actually good story mixed with some epic lines. I'm here for trouble and to chew gum and I'm all out of gum

Brilliant film,it's the woman's eyes I always remember(cant remember her name) and the bubblegum line.Oh and that catchy little tune that runs throughout, stuck in my head now.

Bought a few Arrow Video Blu Ray Special Editions recently and managed the time to put one on last night. I probably haven't seen this since my late teens and there was way more action to the film than I remember-brilliant! Must get a nod for having one of the best endings ever too

Special Edition is nicely done with a book inside and some recent commentary and talks on the film as well as a new digital print and 5.1 sound edit.

10/10

I too bought this (Steel Box version), along with 10 Blu rays from HMV when they had the 5 for £30 offer on Arrow Video films. I hadn't seen this version for a long time, and was quite surprised at just how good it still is.

Watched 2 films this weekend:
"DeadPool" - very funny, and a great antidote to the current stream of superhero movies. 7/10

"The Boy" - a girl from US takes a job as a nanny for an eccentric couple in England, but their "son" is actually a china doll. I fancied a horror/ghost story, and films with haunted dolls do tend to st me up a bit. This didnt disappoint in terms of the spookiness, and the jumps that i can see coming a mile off but still make me flinch. However, theres a "twist" just before the end that was quite poor. 5/10

That catchy little tune is a trademark of Carpenters. See: Assault on Precinct 13 and a pared down version in The Thing for similarly atmospheric background noise. 'Assault' still rings in my head now..last seen it many years ago.

Carpenter is a genius, so may great movies back in the day. The music and opening scene to EFNY is something that has stayed with me since I first saw it as a kid.

"Once you go in, you don't come out."

Recently found this on YT. I'd completely forgotten he also made Halloween, now there's a theme.

He had an ability to install a feeling of dread in a viewer that no-one since has surpassed IMHO. Fincher has some of his flair and I thought It Follows had a decent crack at it recently also.

The Incredible Hulk (2008) was rubbish. I didn't like the two Thor films.

Guardians of the galaxy is good and there is a rumor of a second film.

Do you mean the one starring Ed Norton & Liv Tyler, or do you mean the 2003 Ang Lee one starring Eric Bana? The latter is generally regarded as pants whilst the former is said to be not too bad.

Neither are great though and as the question was "which on that list should I really avoid" I still say avoid Hulk
