You can almost imagine Neil (Heat) as an older Frank; it would certainly explain his reluctance to get involved in a relationship.
I thought this too while watching it, in fact I did wonder why MM didn't change Neil into Frank and make Heat a follow up.Obviously I know about the path from LA Takedown to Heat, but it would be really interesting to hear Mann's thoughts on all three films I think.

Deadpool - Potty mouth superhero/antihero does a lot of fighting. I had high hopes for this but the humour just didn't click for me, without that the film was drivel. 3/10
I don't understand how you could have had high hopes and then not like what was delivered TBH. The style of humour is exactly like the comics and was clear in the many trailers, story was standard fair for the genre and had more 'heart' than most and the action sequences were well done. What exactly were you expecting?
X Men Apocalypse.
Better than Batman vs Superman. Not as good as Civil War. Of the new X Men films (McAvoy/Fassbender), I've seen First Class, haven't seen Days of Future Past, so I'm not entirely sure if there were references I missed.
If Civil War is an 8 or 9, and BvS is a big pile of poop not worthy of a number, this is a 6, maybe 7.

I do watch a lot of films though and this one just didn't do it for me. The X-men characters were like a Wayan brothers spoof. Effects were average. Ryan Reynold's squeaky voice just grated.
I'd probably prefer the comic.
Triple 9 6/10
It's a decent enough film, the premise is pretty good, the story okay and it's got a great cast - Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Casey Affleck supported by some good TV actors - Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) & Norman Reedus (Walking Dead).
It's a Heist film, sort of in the vein of 'Heat' and a little of 'The Departed' as in it tells the story of the robbers and the cops from both perspectives and without giving anything away their are double agents involved, the problem is that whilst it's good, it's certainly not great - it fails to add up to the sum of it's parts, the characters are interesting, but you never get to see enough of them to really learn why they are the way they are - it's vague hints of something, but no substance.
Now I don't think I've ever said this before, but it could do with being a bit longer to flesh out the characters a bit more - I suspect they did what they could with the budget they had, it was made for $30m which is tiny by today's standards and roughly half what it cost to make Heat more than 20 years ago.

Knock Knock
Heard a hilarious 'bad acting' clip of Keanu Reeves on a podcast and just had to watch this. I actually enjoyed it, but I'm not entirely sure why. It's hilariously bad in places but the girls are batst crazy (one in particular is destined to be a breakout star I'm sure) and I genuinely had no idea what was going to happen or what they were up to.
Reviews are all over the place (4/5 in Empire, but lots of negative reviews too), I can see why, not even sure how I would score it.
As for that scene I mentioned, brilliant, he gets another bite at it right at the end too, equally as bad!

It was a Hollywood Babble-On from a month or so ago, listened to loads lately so can't remember which. Just found it on YouTube, 2:13 is the best bit...(audio NSFW)https://youtu.be/KpMvDC7UYfQ

Bone Tomahawk
Now THAT was a weird ass film.
Small budget 19th Century western where the Sheriff (Kurt Russell) and his posse seek to rescue a fair maiden from some descendants of the "The Hills Have Eyes".... nearly an hour an half of borderline tedium that was some how compelling character building stuff, followed by some horror/gore and a conclusion of sorts...
Kept my attention and made me feel ill.
Decent tension too.
ermm...yeah a 7.
Same as IMDB...

The witch - 0/10
Quite simply one of the worst films I have ever witnessed. It's about a family living in 1600, England who encounter a witch or something I'm not quite sure. It's meant to be terrifying, its just st.
I couldn't understand a fking word of it as it's thee auld English. Now I know how English people watching Rab c nesbbit feel.
Utter garbage, I don't want to ruin it but the villain is like something out of a father Ted episode.
