Films I watched this week
Discussion
X-men apocalypse apparently it's terrible, maybe I saw a directors cut or something as it was good, as good an any of the previous movies, 8/10
Eye in the sky frustratingly annoying Jesse Pinkman doesn't want to kill people as a drone operator, good film but so many people needing a good boot up the arse, and the last performance of Alan Rickman as brilliant as ever, 8/10.

I like Broken Flowers, I had to wiki to see what else he did, I also enjoy Ghost Dog and Dead Man.

Finally got round to seeing Predestination after finding out it was based on a short story called All You Zombies by Robert A. Heinlein who was a favourite author of mine. Wow really well done, loved it, but then I love time travel stories. Loved the era it was set in.
I watched Predestination last night, loved it. Probably watch it again soon once i've mulled it over a bit. I'm a sucker for time travel films, another good one i saw recently was called '41'.....stumbled across it on youtube. stephen300o said:
I watched Broken flowers earlier, typical Jim Jarmusch disjointedness, but well shot as always, and who needs all the strings tied neatly anyway.

Prompted by the above posts, though in reverse I suppose, I liked Dead Man and Ghost Dog so I just watched Broken Flowers on Prime. It's really good. Not a thrill ride. Just someone prompted into a slightly odd course of action, and all the human weirdness and uncomfortable reunions it brings about. 8/10.

Just watched the Netflix exclusive "Due Over", a second exclusive I've watched with Adam Sandler.
What a brilliantly silly film with a nice story plot, laughed quite a lot all the way through. Definitely one to watch if you want a switch off and laugh film.
Just to add balance for anyone thinking of giving this a go.What a brilliantly silly film with a nice story plot, laughed quite a lot all the way through. Definitely one to watch if you want a switch off and laugh film.
It's called 'The Do-Over', and whilst not as bad as the utterly dreadful Sandler exclusive 'The Ridiculous 6' it's still painfully st. Unless you think Sandler's recent output (such as Jack and Jill...) is funny I'd recommend giving it a wide berth.

Look, Do-over was a fun slapstick type humour film, you either like Sandler or you don't, I do but then I don't like 2001 (biggest PoS I've watched).
Day of the Jackal
Well paced old style thriller.
till the last 5 minutes, then it felt rushed and the editing fell apart badly almost ruining it, feels like there's a good 5 to 10 minutes missing there.
EDIT
it won a BAFTA, and was Oscar nominated for its editing
Amazons version must be an modified post release edition?

Hopefully that last attempt at a FF film has put the bullet in the head of that franchise.
Fox had to make it by this year otherwise the rights would have reverted to Marvel.stephen300o said:
