Saw this last night. It was OK I thought. The action / fight sequences and car chases were very well done but there was too much 'purposeful' walking around for me - I mean, how many times do you need to show Bourne walking through a crowded place and outwitting the CIA, despite being under close observation?

6/10
I know what you mean. But I felt like it was quite well done even though there wasn't much from Damon. I was really interested how everyone around him that was working on the operation was doing so. Almost like we were seeing it from their perspective rather than his for a change. The Vegas chase I thought was fantastic as well as the very last couple scenes.

I do agree though that there was a lot of walking around etc...

Finding Dory. Maybe it was just me but I thought it just ok. I couldn't quite put my finger on it as to why though. My 8 year old daughter thought the same.

It looked great, but I think I found some of the supporting characters annoying - The octopus was brilliant though, I'll say that.

The short at the beginning was brilliant - visually and the story. It did look real in places....
I really liked Bailey, the beluga whale! Great film, but it did feel like a re-skinned Finding Nemo - for example the seals on the rock screaming off was just a different animal doing the seagulls saying 'Mine'

Have been off work for the last six weeks so watched a number of films!

Captain Phillips - based on a true story of an cargo ship attacked by Somali pirates. Excellent acting from Tom Hanks. 8.5/10

Joy - starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro, a woman who does everything for her family who eventually has a breakthrough with her new business idea. 6/10

Dope - a film set in the badlands of LA. story about a group of friends who love hip-hop and 90's culture who run into some trouble with the local hoods. 7/10

Bridge Of Spies - Superb cold war thriller losely based on a true story, tense and well paced throughout. Tom Hanks good as always in lead role. 8.5/10

A few months ago I bought a bundle of '70s Italian 'Giallo' films from Amazon which I've started watching this week, all are flawed gems but they have so much period charm and are often quite beautifully made, with great soundtracks by Ennio Morricone and Bruno Nicolai... 'The Strange Vice Of Mrs. Whard', 'Strip Nude For Your Killer', 'Torso', 'Baba Yaga', 'The Designated Victim', 'Almost Human' and 'The Case Of The Scorpion's Tail', some of them are also on youtube (as are selected soundtrack clips).

An acquired taste, but worth a punt if you fancy something different and slightly otherworldly. Often some good car content too!

Gridlocked (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2724532/?ref_=nv_sr_1). Mid-range actioner, totally implausible but enjoyable non-the less 55%

The Island

This was free on Amazon Prime Video but expires shortly so I thought I should get round to watching it.

It felt like a cross between a rehash of Logan's Run and an extended episode of Doctor Who (lots and lots of running from things). Plus explosions and silly stunts.

As my dad would say, "It had its moments".

Explosions and silly stunts, because Michael Bay. But it's ok, because instead of filming new stunts, he uses the same ones in Transformers - Dark Of The Moon hehe

Finding Dory.

Very good.

9/10.

The short at the start (Piper I think) was stunning. It actually looked real. Pixar at the top of their game.

10/10
Went to see this last night, and agreed on both points. Hank the octopus was a great character, especially the expressions for something with a mouth you can't see. If Finding Nemo is a 10, then yes Finding Dory is a 9.

Piper was a great little story, and the animation in some parts did look real.
Went to the Kinema in the Woods again last night to see this. Brilliant.

Had tears during the trailers for 'Pete's Dragon' (one of my favourite films as a child) total new remake but still. Then 'Sing' made me well up. This looks such fun.

Piper was fantastic. The grains of sand just phenomenal stuff. Made me cry again too.

Then as soon as Finding Dory started so did I. Again. I'd had at least three meltdowns by the end (I rarely watch Disney films for this reason).

Speaking of the end... As a big Finding Nemo fan (it was youngest son's favourite film for years) I saw credited during the final trailers Willam Dafoe - Gill, along with Peaches, Jacques et al. So of course I made my companions sit and wait. And wait. And wait, until we were alone, the lights went on and the cleaners came in...and I was rewarded. So I cried again. Excellent.

So anyone going to see it. Please stay long after you feel you should have left.

Rewatched Batman the dark knight again on blu Ray and it still holds up. Heath Ledger's performance is brilliant.

Just back from Bourne and I loved it. I did worry it was going to be a mess after the trilogy wrapped things up nicely, but I think the story was alright. Cracking action set pieces as all ways; sad to see Nicky getting bumped off, but it was inevitable I think. Overall an enjoyable 2 hours.

My TiVo box suggested I watch the movie,
District 9

Second viewing but first time I've actually paid attention and watched it properly. Wow what a corker.. still no sequel or prequel though!

Also watched Nicole Kidman in "The Others" properly after it being on in the background at least 5 times (wife's favourite) First film with her in that I really enjoyed.

Lastly, endured the conjuring 2 the other week, the one vaguely based on the Enfield poltergiest. Load of ste.. found it comical and mostly a bit boring, certainly never made me jump, only positive comment is Vera Farmiga looking yummy as usual..

I too watched District 9 after Tivo recorded it, second half of the film is brilliant, great pacing.

I too loved Pete's Dragon and am hoping to get to watch it.

Shame my little'un is only 19 months at the moment, some good films to take him to see if he was older, Finding Dory, Pete's Dragon, BFG etc.

That's good to know.

I do so hate this trend of films to put stuff on after the big credits.

Jason Bourne
Odd one this as reading the few reviews here so far, I find myself nodding with them all.
It is formulaic
TLJ does look bored
The chase scenes have been done before
There is less 'intelligence' about it.
There are a lot of walking about shots with surveillance just missing or just catching them...

But it is fun and the action is very fast paced, with some WTF! moments in amongst them.

What annoyed me more than anything was it being Certificate 12 allied with 'shaky cam'. I'm used to hand held stuff and enjoy the energy it brings but sometimes, maybe after so much exposure to it, you just think, can you not keep still?! I'm trying to read what he's reading!

It does add to the box set though...I'm going with a 6.8/10
