Suicide Squad. Good in places, below mediocre overall. The dialogues are plain awful, and the storyline felt like a 10 year old trying to rehearse a comic book. The pig-faced model girl wouldn't help either. 4/10

I bought the BR version of the early '90's Western Tombstone and watched it last night. Another fantastic film, it must rank as one of the best of its kind. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday almost stole the show.

I also bought the BR version of 1990's homage to '50's B-Movies Tremors. Haven't seen it for a while, so will watch that one later.

It is now sometimes cheaper to buy a Blu-Ray film than rent it. I got both for just under £7!
Tremors is great, noticed it was on TV again recently.

Sausage party 7/10

It's basically exactly as you expect, crude, rude and amusing, (with a strong anti-religion theme).

But the ending - just when you thought you'd seen it all...

Deffo not one for the kiddos for sure.

Yeah, watched it recently and thought it would decay after so many years. It only got better.

Am watching it now on BR. Crisp picture, looks like it was filmed yesterday, and full on DTS surround. It's still great!

Had Cypher recorded on the box so watched it at the weekend. Odd but ok, though I did spot the twist about half way through. hehe

Well, have watched it tonight and I can honestly say I enjoyed more than the first time. I think it has aged really well, helped by all the great fleshed out characters.

I sincerely hope they never decide to remake this with a load of pointless CGI crap.

I've always loved it, and maybe I once considered it a guilty pleasure, but over the years, quality stays, and now I examine films like the RL lot, and they are pretty much spot on, it's actually a quality film that gets top marks in all the things that a film should be marked against, the only thing it didn't have was a massive PR push back then.

The sea one with Treat Williams is still a guilty pleasure. biggrin

Assume this would have been the Tony Scott one not the original? Another film where the remake is the definitive version. Takes a while to get going but brilliant once the main story starts.

Free tickets for the cinema but not a lot on to watch....

We opted for 'Nerve'.

Actually pretty enjoyable - satirical / modern take on social media, the internet, facebook, instagram and all the rest wrapped up in a pretty fast moving film.

Really enjoyed it in the end. For some reason it reminded me alot of 'The Game' with Michael Douglas. 7/10

Also caught 'Me Before You' - chick flick film version of a JoJo Moyes chick book.

It has Emilia Clark in which is always a bonus.

And again an enjoyable film, predictable to the end but well filmed & acted. May even have got a little dusty towards the end. 7/10

OK I have The Outlaw Josey Wales just arrive on BR. I shall be watching that tonight - another one I haven't seen since my childhood.

Oh, the other night I watched Enders-Game. I wasn't expecting to watch it all as I had read all of the negative reviews, but because my expectations were so low, I ended up being pleasantly surprised. I loved the ending!

Echoing what's been mentioned above, but I've always had a soft spot for Tremors. Just a good fun monster movie, doesn't try to be anything else & doesn't need to be. The interplay between Bacon and Ward is almost perfect, even the location is bang on to provide that authentic "B Movie" feel.

Had a bit of an itch for an old creature feature this weekend, so watched 'Island of Terror' on the horror channel on Sunday afternoon. It's a British movie from the 60's - not Hammer but it starred Peter Cushing so always going to be watchable. Typical 'science gone wrong' type plot, but set on a 'craggy island' style location. Almost The Blob meets Father Ted, I guess, but just so wonderfully nostalgic. Totally recommended for anyone into this type of movie - it's available as a full movie on youtube, but I can't link it as at work.

It was an X certificate at the time, although of course by modern standards its very tame and the special effects are at times excellently conceived, if not carried out. Spaghetti was a prop at several points.

Also features the most hilarious death I've seen in ages.

The monsters turn out to be very slow moving blobs, albeit indestructible slow moving blobs. Some of the villagers stand off against them, with various "don't get too close" comments. One daring soul "I'll get closer" so you know what's going to happen, but no one expects the ambush.... One of said slow moving blobs has managed to climb a fecking tree, in full view of everyone yet no one, then somehow just 'flops' onto the victim. Brilliant.

"Now I have two guns... one for each of ya"

Val Kilmer completely steals that movie, no almost about it smile
