Blood and Bone - martial arts / street fighting movie. Watched it on the strength of the clip someone posted on PH of the fight scene in prison at the start. Not a bad film. 6/10

Secret Life of Pets - quite a few laugh out loud moments 8/10

Spotlight-the one where reporters make it their mission to provide proof of a cover-up of sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church. Well worth a watch, well acted. A sit down and give your full attention type of film.

Finding Nemo on sky at the minute, haven't seen it since it came out. Anyway what a cracking film, so brilliantly written plenty of laugh out loud moments.

That's a shame. The original is fantastic remake is dire. Turned it off after 20 or so minutes, some things get lost in translation.

Very well done film, some great acting and a great cast. Thoroughly enjoyed this rollercoaster ride.
Same score here, very old-fashioned style movie and all the better for it. Should have avoided th Casablanca references though. Pitt is not Bogart

I had a great week with
Mr Church- Eddie Murphy is superb in the nice feel good film about a cook.
Self/less- Body swapping film, pretty predictable but decent enough action for a lazy Sunday
The Patriot- The Mel Gibson one, an old favourite I dusted off.
The Intern- Robert DeNero was excellent, weird ending though.
The Goonies- I was suddenly hit with nostalgia for this film for some bizarre reason, but it was not as great as I remember it.
The Martian- Good film, I quite enjoyed the story. I was wondering though, would NASA really go back for a stranded Astronaut? I'm more inclined to say they would just sweep it under the carpet and let him die there, unless he made it for 4 years which seemed doubtful.

The Revenant - Really liked this. Much better than I was expecting. 8/10
The Hateful Eight - Tense and unpredictable, although it all seems a bit pointless by the end. 8/10

Angry Birds - Meh, it was ok but no classic of animation a few moment made me titter but that was about it. Kids liked it. 6/10
The Secret Life of Pets - Better than AB but not a classic. More jokes for adults in this one (the Alien bit made me laugh). Kids watched it three times. 7/10
Eddie the Eagle - Feel good film, very enjoyable but probably nothing like what really happened. 7/10
Jingle all the Way - Terrible predictable xmas movie. Arnie can't do comedy but there were a few funny moments. Wife and kids enjoyed it. 4/10 for me 7/10 for the rest of the family.

Train to Busan

...in the original Korean without subtitles, so I missed out on a lot of the 'class division' aspects but it's still bloody good zombie fun, and refreshes a genre which was getting a bit stale. Recommended.
I just watched this but with subtitles - what a great film, kind of a Korean 28 Days Later / World War Z. Some really tense moments, and quite a moving film at times, particularly with regards to the father / daughter relationship in such a helpless situation. Thoroughly recommend it....

I really want to watch this, but it's not out until February.. frown

Just watched the extended version of Suicide Squad and quite enjoyed it. (First time I've seen it, so haven't seen the shorter theatrical version).

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

9/10.

Absolute genius film. I've only just seen it so I have no words but bloody hell that was fantastic
Having watched this yesterday I can only assume you either work for he studio or are one on jk's family members.

I saw it on imax and very nearly fell asleep, something that has never happened to me at a cinema, let alone an imax. Perhaps I'm getting old.

The plot is wafer thin, Eddie redmayne played his part well, but it was like watching rain main without tom cruise. If it were a tv show it could have been done in an hour and nothing missed.

If you are writing a book or film and your monster is an amorphous cloud then you should tear up what you've done and start again. It just brings back memories of the fantastic four and green lantern movies.

5 more of These?

Good luck...

Labyrinth Of Lies

The story of how the German Authorities started to wake-up, accept and prosecute the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazi regime during WW2.

I'm inclined towards a complete 10/10.

The scene at Auschwitz is ........gulp......

Watched the new Bourne movie last night. It followed the formula but as it's not fresh anymore, I just found it all a bit too by the numbers. Pamela Landy was a great character and a perfect fit for the role but the new young upstart character just didn't work for me. Neither did TLJ. The story was a stretch too far including the Nicky Parsons stuff. Why does every car chase in Hollywood have to involve driving the wrong way down a busy road? Anyway, it had fights, action and chases but it lost the magic of the first three and ended up being more of a generic action flick.

I got the feeling that the producers went, 'Alicia Vikander is hot at the moment, let's write a part for her and make sure she gets lots of screen time'.
