Paterson - great film, small story about a week in the life of a bus driver, beautifully made. Typical Jarmusch. 8/10

(Dear PHer, don't go expecting any action/nudity/fireballs.)

Inferno.

I don't know how to rate it. It's one of those rare times, for me, where I've actually bothered to read a book and it happened to be made into a movie. As a standalone, the movie is fine, has action, a twist or two and a solid story. As a representation of the book it was appalling, but what can you expect in two hours?

Disappointed/10.

If they hadn't COMPLETELY changed the ending I would've enjoyed it more.

Point Break...

...anyone else? I love extreme sports and this is over flowing with action footage, but I'm not sure if its just me being grumpy or if its 90% cobblers?!

I've tried twice to get through it now.

It's terrible, no charisma from any of the cast.

I quit after 40 minutes.

The ending was the most disappointing part. They turned Sienna into just a clever follower and lover of Zorbrist and didn't touch on what Zorbrist actually aimed to do, instead leaving it as a plague.

Cop out as far as I'm concerned so they can do more movies in that 'universe' without any need to include this in it.

Had no intention of watching but caught a couple of mins today.

Switched off when "base-jumping from the peak of Everest" was mentioned.

Dreadful remake. I quite like the actor who played the bodhi character but they really did pick someone more wooden than Keanu for Johnny Utah and that takes some doing. The original is much more engaging.

Saw Sully this week, good film, even if the CG of the plane going into the water was a bit iffy.

Going to the Odeon's Screen Unseen tomorrow night, from the comments on the clues they've put of Facetwit, it's probably A Monster Calls, or it might be maybe just might be Passengers. I'm fine either way with those two.

You did well. I only managed about 15.

This weekend was Bad Santa. Very funny flick. 8/10. Billy Bob plays the role great as he almost always does.

Watched   Hell or High Water last night. 9/10 from me, really enjoyed it, Jeff Bridges, Ben Foster and Chris Pine all put in some great acting. Similar feel to "No country for old men"

Same cant be said of the sci-fi/drama called "arrival" Complete load of toss.

I watched this over the weekend, and thought that it was good, but I'm buggered if I can understand a word Jeff Bridges says most of the time...it was one of those 'mumbly' American movies that I find better to watch with subtitles

I watched Filth (2013) over the weekend.

For some reason, I have avoided it in the past, but I thought it was superb. It features a brilliant and totally believable performance from James McAvoy as a hedonistic cop who descends gradually further into depravity and madness. It also has a great supporting cast.

A 10/10 from me.

Even if you're a fan of the original, don't bother. Tedious waste of time.

By contrast, this was excellent. Great performances and give you a few things to think about.

Only thing wrong with what you said is the fact it is 100% Cobblers. The original has already been remade once and called The Fast and the Furious, it really didn't need remaking again.

'toss' is a bit harsh; I enjoyed it but I do think it's been way overhyped.

Agree completely with Hell or High Water though; my favourite film of 2016 along with Eye in the Sky.

The Hitcher. The Michael Bay one with Sean Bean. I found it predictable and a bit dull - 5/10 if I'm being generous

Deep Impact. Seen this about a hundred times and still find it an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours - 8/10

I really like Tom Hanks so I'm biased to say it was good. It was good though and I really enjoyed it.
