Christine - unfairly overlooked John Carpenter classic. Really well shot in a way that makes the car look truly sinister, creepy without relying on jump scares or loads of blood, and the shots of Christine repairing herself still look brilliant more than 30 years on. Definitely up there with his best films
Another great film from my youth. If you haven't seen it, make the effort.jsf said:

I watched The Monuments Men last night.
Some decent performances and an interesting story, but somehow it felt very rushed and episodic, whilst parts seemed glacial, as if the whole pace of the film was off (Maybe some heavy handed editing?)
5/10

Very much this, quite disappointing as it was an interesting premise. Some decent performances and an interesting story, but somehow it felt very rushed and episodic, whilst parts seemed glacial, as if the whole pace of the film was off (Maybe some heavy handed editing?)

The Simpsons take on stolen art in WWII "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish" was much more entertaining.

Agreed - Lost in Translation is a really good film.
Is this the film that absolutely nothing happens?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_(film)

Although I have really been enjoying his early films, next on my hit list are two films actually made this century and are supposed to be very good. Broken Flowers and Lost In Translation.
Broken Flowers is excellent. Jim Jarmusch, so it's not very Hollywood. And all the better for it. People are weird.Alex do you have The Life Aquatic on your list? Wes Anderson film and very Jacques Cousteau-esque with Bill in the lead role - another one of my favourite 'millennial' BM gigs.
I saw Broken Flowers and Lost in Translation this week. I will give them both a 7.5/10. I enjoyed them both, but you need patience while the storey unfolds. It was good to see at 53/55 years old, Murray still had a sparkle of youth and mischief about him
I also watched a very early Murray film, Meatballs.....almost switched it off after 10 minutes, but it had got better after 20 minutes. Not really a film to sit and watch. It probably works best as background entertainment while you are doing the ironing or something as you don't need to concentrate on it. It raised a few laughs. 4.5/10.
When you watch a lot of films with the same actor in them that span a period of 25 years, it does make you think about your own mortality. In Broken Flowers and Lost in Translation, Murray is playing very much the older bloke in these films. When he is in his early 30s in his early 80s films, the characters are very much full of life and energy. It made me feel a little sad (and reminded me that I'm only 5 years away from 40!
Mystery road
Slow paced Aussie thriller set in a run down outback town, A detective tries to solve an aboriginal girls murder without much help from his indifferent colleagues. Atmospheric setting and requires you to pay attention, Nice shootout at the end.
6.5/10 a bit slow but held my attention.
There's a sequel, may watch it later.

Anyone know where I can see Trainspotting? Haven't seen it in nearly 20 years and need to rewatch it as I have no long term memory.....
It was on film 4 recently but doesn't seem to be on all4, if you are willing to pay to rent it then it's on google play video or youtube for £2.49 or you can buy it on iTunes for £4.99. Amazon Video let you rent for £3.49 or buy it for £3.99A few choices but no free (safe/legal) options at the moment. I still have it on my sky box because I planned to watch it before seeing T2 but actually I'm glad I didn't because my blurry memory worked better with the film and they give enough reminders during it anyway.

American Sniper.
Its VERY good 9/10!
Cooper is excellent
The film is utterly believable and doesn't drag.
I hardly recognised Sienna Miller! She's still on my top 3 fantasy shags
I didn't expect to like this but I agree it was excellent. Its VERY good 9/10!
