London has fallen...

Bunch of great actors yet horrible acting and really bad cgi. Rubbish basically.
just watched something called 'Kill Ratio' on netflix - believe me when I say that it makes London has Fallen seem Oscar-worthy in comparison!

Bit late to the party on this one, but it is just about to drop off the Amazon Prime list and I thought I really should get round to watching it.

Some of the "Easter Eggs" were really rather blatant, but the location for the final part of the film was absolute genius.

Did I enjoy it? You bet your hairy love-eggs!

Ender's Game - a lot better than I thought it would be
Indeed, I really enjoyed Ender's, even though I knew the ending and hate the general fkwittedness of the military sorts.

I'm a fan of the genre, but I found Ender's Game a bit... meh. Maybe I need to watch it again, but I came away from it feeling strangely unfulfilled, with no investment in the characters and no real sense of progression. They do training mission after training mission and then the last training mission turns out to be the real thing, even though it looks and feels like yet another training mission and then it ends.

I think I have a weird, masochist love for nihilistic films which make me hate all the people in it. biggrin

Bone Tomahawk - had been looking forward to seeing this for a while but came away really disappointed. I like the concept but for a lot of the film absolutely nothing happens. The whole middle portion is just people walking through the desert with no sort of tension or urgency.

Collateral Beauty

I wasn't expecting much and was watching it purely because the wife wanted to watch something that wasn't violent or action themed - that's all we seem to be watching recently. All in, a brilliant film with a great ending. I really enjoyed it and Will Smith is a fantastic lead character.

8/10

Patriots Day

Brilliant. Some sad bits, some funny bits, some shouting at the TV bits. Great story.

7/10

Jack Reacher: Never go back

Err, not very good. I like some of the novels and even liked the 1st movie. This was just not very good.

Logan.

I stopped watching xmen franchise after the first couple. But this looked different. And it was. A family that brought their kids walked out after the first scene.

Very good and bit of a rollercoaster.

Solid 8/10

So I watched Get Out this weekend. It is a good film, but was watching this in America and the theatre was packed, ore so than Logan.

However the anti-white sentiments from the audience made it super uncomfortable... Good film and worth a watch but expect the UK experience to he more leveled

I was expecting to be disappointed by it, largely because I really liked the books and movies based on books seldom live up to expectations. But I enjoyed it too, there was some simplification but I thought it didn't stray too far from the ideas of the book overall.

'Alive' (1993). Watched it last night (not seen it for years). Good film and based on a true story. 7/10 I'd say.

Saw this on Saturday night and thought it was absolutely fine. I'm not too sure why people have a downer on these films.
I'd say it's more like a 6-7/10

How old were the kids? It's a 15, and closer to being an 18 than a 12. They must have been teens and passed for 15 if the staff let them in, but it sounds like they went in thinking 'comic book film, they've seen X-Men or Iron Man or something, it's fine'.

I quite enjoyed the mash up of styles tbh.

The scene towards the end in the cave was one of the most minging things I've seen in a movie since the try your own brain number in Hannibal... but then again maybe that's just me....
