Kong: Skull Island - 6/10
Given the cast and the hints at humour in the trailers I felt a little underwhelmed. Nearly all the lighter moments were in the trailers and most of the big set pieces too. Brie Larson massively underused.
That said, stunning imagery and loved the 70s vibe, it was just a bit generic and by the numbers for me.

Saw it last night too. Yes its a bit clunky in places, but as a big budget B movie it's all good. Samuel L Jackson chews the scenery, you can see whats going on in the monster fights which immediately makes it eleventy thousand times better than Michael Bay Transformers fights. Good 70s soundtrack. It's a film about a big monkey that doesn't like helicopters. Turn brain off and enjoy Given the cast and the hints at humour in the trailers I felt a little underwhelmed. Just watched Arrival.
3/10
Only good bit was seeing Kang & Kodos, the aliens in the Simpsons. Apart from that it was bloody awful.
Just for balance... Most of us gave it an 8/103/10

Warcraft
6.8/10
It was on Sky last night and was never something I'd have gone to the cinema to see. Based on the game which I know nothing about so it was nice just to watch a film without any expectations. I actually really enjoyed it, even the bits that made no sense to me because at least they were pretty.

Room
The Mrs just had this on the tv. Cracking film about the bond between a mother and her young son, held captive in the ROOM.
Won't say anymore in case anyone goes on to watch it.
Solid 8/10
Yep, saw that it was on Channel 4 tonight, so watched it on Amazon without the adverts , it had been on my list for a while. Good film. The Mrs just had this on the tv. Cracking film about the bond between a mother and her young son, held captive in the ROOM.

Kong: skull island
I really enjoyed it. No pointless sub plots, no drawn out exposition, great visuals, great soundtrack, good story. The two hour run time flew by.
Lots of homages to classic movies from apocalypse now to predator.
If it wasnt for a couple of jarring continuity/ reshoot/ editing errors that annoyed me quite a lot I'd give it a higher score. But still.

Amour - Michael Haneke's unflinching look at terminal illness looming in the lives of an elderly couple. It's neither sentimental nor unnecessarily shocking (unlike some of Haneke's films). Just absorbing and authentic, superbly acted and worthy of the Oscar and other nominations. 7/10
(Probably not right for a certain sector of the PH demographic.)

Wild tales. Argentinian Oscar nominated movie, six short stories of vengeance. Fantastic film, people tying themselves up in knots of their own making, the highlight being the guy who gets into a road rage incident, flips the other guy off only to break down a few miles later, hilarity & death ensues.

Odd but good. Eva Mendes certainly earns her money.
Not its weirdest scene
