Agree. But I seem to recal the way he escaped the other hit men really annoyed me. Is that the one right at the beginning a hit man with sniper rifle perfect shot with no cover for his hit doesn't shoot when he stops to inspect footprints and why would he leave footprints anyway.
Then I remember being really annoyed by a scooter chase I think looney chases a hit man in a sat on a scooter.

and some improbable female hit woman being just as inept for some contrived reason

I also remember fit women topless a lot thought it was ok nothing special
You're spot on about the sniper at the start, I noticed that as well. Not a great start to the film.

Interstellar. Slow-paced and partly documentary style. One issue though. Sir Michael Caine' character, Professor Brand, looks like Jeremy Corbyn.

The Hangover
Was on tv the other night - hadn't seen it before but was pleasantly surprised and laughed al the way through. Luckily the two sequels are on Amazon Prime so will be watching those next.
Don't the sequels are pretty much the same thing repeated but with less jokes.

2 was "reasonable" - 3 was utterly dire. But yeah, I found 1 much funnier than I expected.

To be fair I've not seen 3 but the quality of 2 had dropped off enough for me not to bother especially combined with the generally negative reviews.

I didn't mind the third one. In fact I thought it was better than the second, which was basically a remake of the first.
I did get the feeling that it was a script / story for another completely different film that was tweaked to fit the hangover franchise (much like the last two die hard films)
Worth watching for the odd mid credit scene.

the 3rd one had a cracking start (ok tasteless but I thought it was funny) and a couple of funny moments but over all it was poor.

SPL2: A Time for Consequences - an average muay Thai film with some brutal scenes

Halo 4 - a not bad straight to video effort, ideal for a rainy saturday afternoon

San Andreas 3D - 1/10 no wait 8/10 God wtf did I just watch.

This has to be the most bizarre film I have ever watched. Visually stunning, 3D seemed to work really well with this film. The special effects are fantastic, however its just madness from start to finish.

It follows the standard script of any action film, love, explosions, coming back from the dead, more explosions, staring in the camera for long periods of time, more explosions, and survival. It will have you screaming at the tele going "oh moan to fk, c'mon now, that's ridiculous" but yet its that bad its good, its almost Sharknado bad. Jesus, I thought the Rocks acting was bad in WWF, that was until I saw him do a smack down with a car door. Before my 3D glasses had even warmed up, he's managed to rip a car door off with his bare hands.

These people fight through hell, earthquakes, tsunamis and explosions yet everyone looks like they just walked out the shower. I mean, ive never survived an earthquake, then another, then another, then a tsunamis and finally a building collapsing, but I have crashed into the kitty litter a few times and i looked like id been dragged through a swamp.

Epic

F&F 7 - oh dear Lord what a pile of ste. I realise that suspension of disbelief is vital in films but this takes it to a whole new level. On the plus side I really enjoyed the bits with Tony Jaa... but the 'acting', 'logic' and scripting were awful.

I liked it too. It's exactly what you expect with no "what are we doing to the planet" Eco message crudely added to try and give the film pseudo credibility. Perfect for a wet Sunday afternoon, but make sure you set your expectations low.

I re-watched The Family the other day as a mate hadn't seen it. Still love it. DeNiro, Pfieiffer, Lee Jones, Agron and the kid. All play their parts spot on, the script is just somehow better than other similar films.
Need to read the book I think.

Watched it last night after buying the bluray ages ago and enjoyed it a lot. Robocop , District 9 and Short Circuit all rolled into one with that weird South African band thrown in for good measure.

There was a trailer for a Mat Damon film which looked surprisingly good (if you can suspend your disbelief of Mat Damon's acting), can't remember what it's called but it's a space sci-fi where they plan to break into another planet or spaceship or something where the perfect people live. Anyone know if it's any good?

Edited to add;

It's called Elysium

Elysium's better. Same director.

Thankfully I heard somewhere that the Alien sequel he was supposed to be working on was being put on a hiatus.

The Martian.
Quite enjoyed, and the Florence Knoll leather sofas and sideboards in the office scenes. ( does that make me sad?)

You're right of course but it is really an action movie for kids, my 8 year old son enjoyed it immensely biggrin

I found the ending was very sad but a nice touch under the circumstances.

Man From Uncle..

Horribly inaccurate (historically - Telephones, outboards, boats, etc), but still a good yarn..

entertaining (even with Huge Grant in it!), give it a solid 7/10

Spring - 9/10 watched this on Netflix last night, guy's mother dies, goes travelling in foreign country and meets a mysterious girl...who's not what she seems..... Really enjoyed it and felt it gave the horror genre a nice twist without it all being splatter and gore.

I thought it was dreadful. The only decent scene was the car chase....think the cars were a Morris Oxford and a Trabant ffs....when the MO got stuck between 2 buildings.

Tonight I watched Texas Chainsaw 3D.Totally devoid of horror and the 3D wasn't utilised very well.It totally met my extremely low expectations smile

The Hobbit - Battle of the 5 Armies

Felt like they were using up all the CGI battle scenes left over from the LOTR films.

To be honest, I thought this was a directionless mess of a film and I'm told, 99% of the film is unrelated to the book!

In my view, The Hobbit 1 and 2 should have been merged into 1 film and 3 should never have happened, still it passed a few hours.

2/10...
