I finished watching it yesterday and I know Escobar killed thousands of people but I couldn't help feeling sorry for him at the end.
First series this character had me won over, I thought, he's cool as fk. But the second series really played on the actual effects he had on others more so, then it hit home, this was real life. I found myself hatting him and wishing him dead. moanthebairns said:

In some ways the Escobar era was the 'good old days'.The current generation of cartels - now based in Mexico rather than Colombia - are even more ruthless and violent.
Example: One of the cartel leaders, to settle a score, sent a good-looking henchman to seduce the wife of his enemy. When the deed was done, and photographed, he cut her head off and sent it in a box to her husband. Then he got the couple's two young children and threw them off a bridge to their deaths...

Well I certainly missed that in the news! Whatever happened to just sending a text with one less 'x'?The current generation of cartels - now based in Mexico rather than Colombia - are even more ruthless and violent.

I thought the guy who played Escobar was great. Was a shame to see him die as that was a great story but history is history. Can't wait for s3!
Just reached the end of season 1. Thanks for that!thetapeworm said:

Just reached the end of season 1. Thanks for that!Late to the party with this but just finished season one. Superb series very much enjoyed. Took longer than normal as I kept pausing it to look up the real events.
As far as the brutal violence is concerned I thought it was just right, was enough to get a feeling of what life was like but not too much to make you feel sick. The snooker que was plenty for me.
Colombia is definitely on the list of places I'd like to visit now. Looks like a beautiful country.

Just finished S1 and it is gripping.
My wife travelled around Colombia in the mid nineties and said it was pretty dangerous. She has stories of being shot at by Narcos and having to pay bribes at various checkpoints etc. To contrast, I was in Bogota on business at the end of last year and it was pretty benign. There was a heavy police presence, but it didn't feel crazy dangerous

"Pablo Escobar: Patron Del Mal" is worth watching too. It is on Netflix, 74 episodes long and good viewing. Basically the same as Narcos but stretched out and lots of sub plots too.
Yeah I liked that series. Seems v authentic with the Spanish and 80s look. Bit low budget special effects in places though. Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
