Finished the Series... it felt more like a film than a season of something.. I enjoyed it, however I had expected them to push the envelope a little more on the gore / consequences side, it wasnt as dark as it couldve been, despite the overall sense of life being disposable.

From the 3 episodes I've seen I totally agree...even House Of Cards is darker!

People have compared it Scarface and Goodfellas...I would say Blow is a more fitting comparison.

Hoping it gets better and will watch another couple tonight!

It is a shame but I feel Netflix asked the director to not display the levels of violence seen in his Brazilian films, not that violence is missing from this but I'm sure Colombian gangsters are no less violent than Brazilian ones (burn the pig and tyre scene springs to mind)

Finished it, absolutely brilliant stuff which gives you an insight into how powerful and brutal Pablo was(and probably how cocaine will always be a big income for the country)

2 issues for me were as someone else pointed out it doesn't start early enough in his life and it felt like the director was held back by Netflix to make this more appealing to a wider audience as his previous work was brutal.
That aside I still highly recommend it and it's worth watching his films if you enjoyed the series

Again, excellent, superb HD scenery and mixing original newsreel footage.

Gripping.

As soon as the narration started, I thought this is very much like Blow - was half expecting George Jung to appear in one of the episodes.

Just finished watching all 10 episodes. I thought it was great! I hadn't really paid much attention when all that stuff was going on, this series was very educational.

Just finished. I thought its was great but to crammed in for one series, they could have stretched it over 5 or 6 series, not a lot left of Pablo's life for season 2.

All in all a good series well worth a watch and I like the Netflix format of being able to binge watch.

A lot of the dialogue is in Spanish so lots of subtitles which may not be for some.

I thought the series as it progressed would end with Pablo's death, as someone else pointed out unless they embellish things further at this stage there isn't too much more to his story?

Enjoyed it a lot. Happy to hear season 2 is already shooting.

Bear in mind, the series is called Narcos; it's not just following Escobar's story but the progression of the Cocaine Cartels from Escobar through to modern Mexican groups. Looking forward to it progressing.

Just finished this today too and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if I liked the voiceover narration style though. Some episodes felt like it was very full of the voiceover, rather than the characters.

I assume in Series 2 they will follow on to the Cali cartel as they started becoming more prominent towards the end of the series.

Yeah a fair bit, if I remember from the book killing Pablo :

On the run in the jungle, the hunt, the terrorism cranks up a notch, goes back to "prison", then on the run again to get gunned down on the roof of some suburban house.

Quite a bit, left. he unleases his darker side after they reneg on the deal.

Just finished it as well. Thought it was excellent, though I agree it could have done with starting a bit further back.

Although, did anyone else notice the e39 in the final episode? nonowink
