Binge-watched the entire Season 1 of STARTUP the other night... well worth a watch as Martin Freeman's acting is top-notch.

Good but the episodes were a bit variable, some had lots of story and others were padded. You could tell when the scriptwriters were stuck as they'd chuck in a sex scene; it was almost comically obvious as they did nothing for the story except burn a bit of time. Especially in one episode.

Got much better as it went on.

Agreed, they were liberal with the edits on those scenes, too.

Martin's acting in the scene with his partner though... chilling.

Watched Goliath over last week/weekend which I really enjoyed. Didn't really lend itself to a season 2 but would it would be good to see Billy Bob Thornton in some more stuff.

edit: actually looking on IMDB he's in lots every year. I guess it would be good to see him getting better roles.

Smiler.

I recently went back to the beginning of Ripper Street. I actually really enjoyed the whole series, don't know why I didn't have the same appreciation the first time around (gave up midway through S2).

Only a few outrageous plot elements (false teeth) & very rich in cast, character & scenery. Some very good interwoven plot threads too.

Just started watching Copper. It's based in NY some 20 years earlier but is very similar in plot & style. Will see how it pans out.

Watched a film called The Ones Below at the weekend, rather disturbing but different from the run of the mill. Also Our Kind of Traitor - a bit "Night Manager" but liked that too. Very good plot.

Just started The Path - so far so good. Aaron Paul plays a father who's thinking about leaving a Scientology style cult. Some quite dark undertones and good acting.

Also the music and incidental music is absolutely stunning.

I've just finished Goliath too, quite enjoyable and easy to binge through the whole series over a couple of days.

Has anyone mentioned Outlander?

We are on E9 S1, it is just a nice and interesting storey but watchable.

I was surprised at that one, I'd never have thought that I'd follow what's essentially a love story. We're on S2, which has a good start so far and persuaded me to start reading the books behind the series.

Creature Designers: The Frankenstein Complex

For anyone interested in special effects from early 1900s to CGI. Talking to the artists and directors, films with make up, puppets, stop motion, people in suits, CGI, motion capture...

Really interesting stuff, and a few things I didn't know in the raptors in the kitchen scene of Jurassic Park, some of the raptor parts were people in suits

Finished this now. Even better than Start-up. BBT is a brilliant actor.
