Anyone watching 'The Crossing'?
Watched the first episode last night, thought it looked interesting. But apparently ABC cancelled it after the first season.

I've mentioned it before, but I'm watching it again so will mention it again, Patriot. One of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Sort of black comedy but in a very low key sort of way, the plot is almost surreal but not really, and the photography is superb. Really needs to be watched on a large screen to appreciate if fully.

Apparently Amazon renewed it in 2017 so hopefully there will be some more soon.

Bit late to the party but, I've started watching American Gods. It is a very strange show and I find myself wondering what on earth I'm watching half the time. But, despite that, it looks amazing and I'm actually really enjoying it.
It certainly is strange but it's one of the best tv shows I've seen ever. Watched it again recently and it's still just as good. Even the intro is superb.

Just watched the Man Who Knew Infinity. Thought it was very good. Not a big budget thing but very well done.

I recently got into Hell on Wheels. It’s a western based around the building of the first big American railway just after the civil war. The main character is a badass hunting down the men who killed his family.

I had never heard of it but gave it a go. I binged the first season last weekend and am starting on the second one now. It’s great.
The old plots are always the best, that's why they get used so often.

Just finished the second season of Patriot (I've been rationing it). It continues to be superb, the characters, the plot, the photography (especially the way each shot is framed). It won't suit everybody, but those who get it will love it.

I’ve been think long about starting The Patriot. When you say it won’t be suitable for everyone, what do you mean? What’s it similar to?
It really isn't like anything I've ever watched before, so can't help there. It's not suitable for people who watch a couple of episodes and don't get it (like my wife, for instance).

The Girlfriend Experience Season 1 is, err, very interesting.

It’s a 15 - but NSFW.
About ten episodes in and we like it. Quite different.
And in 4k
Series 2 has Anna lick Friel in it

I watched this last night, I really didn't gel with it. I just couldn't get my head around the whys and the wherefores of it all...
I've not watched any of this yet, but it would appear you are referring to a problem that frequently crops up with fiction and that is failing to explain or show the motivation for the characters' actions. To do this requires effort, skill and talent on the part of the writer and many people writing for the screen, especially the small one, are missing one or more of these.

We watched the first 5 series of "The Americans" mostly because it was free and it's something to have on while we have supper. When the 6th series was released at £2.99 an episode we chose not to bother, but now it's on Prime we've started watching it again. And I still have no idea why. It features the most unpleasant lead character I have ever come across. I keep hoping that she will be killed but that's probably too much to hope for. And the daughter is as convincing as a three pound note.

She's bloody gorgeous though. That's why.
Not sure which one you are referring to, but you can have my share whichever smile

Thanks to your description I've started watching Patriot....

You're spot on....and it is brilliant thumbup
I think naming it Patriot was a bit of an error, people have a preconception if what it might be about. I know I did, but saw a clip where John said “if you keep following me I’m going to stab you in the thigh” - that appealed to my sense of humour and I’m so glad I watched it, possibly my favourite series of all time
I don't think I've ever seen anything else like it, absolutely extraordinary in a very understated way. Not only is the story pleasantly bizarre, they've put real effort into the photography, and it shows.

Then stop posting on here and go watch it...
It'll be included with Prime eventually, I have patience, I can wait. TBH it doesn't really look like my kind of thing anyway.

Just finished S1 of Patriot. Found it a bit of a slog but now that the cat is out of the bag does S2 make up for it?
If you weren't enjoying it from the very first episode then I don't think you are going to find the next series any more to your taste.

Patriot is trying too hard, it's forced, things should just naturally flow.
It's the same mistake as the Beatles made when they recorded Tomorrow Never Knows and much of their later output for that matter

Like I said, tastes vary. BTW, I'm a big fan of Breaking Bad too, but I recognise that they are very different shows.

...It must be five or six minutes since someone’s recommended Patriot, dark humour, only two series IIRC.
I found it to be brilliant in every respect. The humour mostly isn't obvious but it's right there in the writing. Some wonderful photography too.
