Went with three mates last night. We are all around 40 so just the target audience I reckon.

There were some really funny moments, some jokes were a little bit weak and a lot of nostalgia. Overall the story is really just there to bring the characters back together and have some fun with it.

If you liked the original it is definitely worth seeing. As someone said above, about as good as you reasonably hope it to be.

Prompted by the looking back mood of the film we went for a few pints afterwards and had a session getting nostalgic about our misspent youths.

Wife and I went to see this last night in Edinburgh. I fkin' loved it! Honestly, I got right into the characters, the flashbacks and hints of earlier soundtrack were so well done. Laughs, tears, cringe, eek-moments, fab.

The audience were clapping and cheering - some of them - at the end. Nice that they were handing out T2 posters to the audience too...

Brilliant, a laugh out loud funny film, go and see it in the cinema. You don't need to have seen the first film as they refer back to much of it but it would certainly help if you know who an what the characters are/were.

We went to see it last night (with some mates in London) the film was much better/funnier that I was expecting, nicely filmed, music is great, the main actors were fantastic I enjoyed this more than the first film.

Look out for Irvine Welsh in a cameo scene, and there is a slight reference to why it was called Trainspotting which was not mentioned in the first film. I didn't really enjoy the first film due too much violence/too many drug scenes this film has less of both.

I'd say you really do need to see the original. Also i felt Robert Carlyle took a wee bit to get into charactor. The early scenes were not as convincing as later on.

Knowing the ayout of Edinburgh Rentons run from Begbie was a fair old treck Running from Cavendish nightclub(lav ignite now?) to end up back outside the old Gaia, stereo at the bridge. lol

Carlyle was really good on a chat show last night, he had to stay at a hotel for the shoot because he didn't wish to go home as Begbie. biggrin

Well you'll be throughly disappointed then.

Not the film, the fact that most cinemas are like farmyards.

Saw it this afternoon and thought it was pretty damn good. Slowed a little after the first hour, but picked up for the end. Solid 8/10.

I was amused by the ... "she's too young for you" line

You need to find a proper cinema! - the one we saw T2 in had sofa sized seats with side tables - and if you order food and wine the jolly nice staff bring it to your seat - I had a marguerita pizza and bitburger. The film was introduced by a posh young chap who reminded us to switch off our mobiles before enjoying the film and to let him know if there was anything else we needed. ( sounds bizarre but it really was like that).

Same here. I like Everyman cinemas.

Mmm, Bitburger.

My local cinema definitely doesn't sound as classy as that. There's VIP seating but I opted for cattle class as there's not that much difference. As we were denied the privilege of boozing during the film we simply spent a few hours in the pub beforehand. All the same, I like the sound of your cinema.

I'm surprised they never expanded on that. I wish they had and it didn't fit well I thought. He was a tourist in his own youth to quote the phrase so why not explore that old relationship.

A good film but not a great one until the ending I thought.

How did you find the ending?

IMO, Sick Boy's line earlier in the film about how "Your [Renton's] blood runs in my veins" sets up the scene where he saves Renton's life and betrays Begbie superbly.

Ending was great.

I thought when he was hanging that was it and almost felt disappointed, then the rest happened and it finished well. I was on smiling and on the edge of my seat at that point. There were quite a few good subtle links in it as well as obviously have Irvine Welsh as usual! I love Spud. Really felt all of them had moved on in their respective characters very well.
