A great 1st episode, hats off to them for having the guts & determination to chance it at all, then see it through.

And to the detractors, we don't know where they lived before, this may be heaven in comparison wink

Not everybody has a country estate, tough for the average PH'er to understand that I know!

Indeed, I was clear when I finally watched it last night that it was a sunken site. They filmed from the Supermarket car park, I note!

Just caught up with this.

All a bit weird, I did due diligence on the Lister machine shop ~15 odd years ago. I seem to recall that part of the town was no where near as nice as they are making it out or be. Things might have improved, but with such a lose of employment in the area, I struggle to see that.

and the massive place in France that they restored and turned into a B&B.
This was my favourite. Buy some random place on the internet and couldn't speak a word of French in rural France whilst trying to organise the restoration, to seeing the magnificent building they produced at the end, from sheer will and determination.
stayed there a couple of years ago, lovely couple and a great place to stay. Was interesting hearing some of the 'behind the scenes' stuff

Think he's the only architect to have done the show twice, so he's delegated the TV work to somebody else in the office. Sadly I couldn't blag myself a seat at a desk in the office when they came up to do some filler shots. I'd bought a black polo neck jumper and everything....
isn't there some chap (Lincoln?) on the Isle of Wight who's been on a couple of times (yogurt wall episode)

Yep, he did the towery-thing based on an old bungalow, and also that contemporary IOW seaside one with the flint walling that well-nigh bankrupted the couple (accepting that doesn't narrow it down much)

Happy to stand corrected smile. Actully I was with the architect this morning and apparently the scheme isnt finished so it will be on next year now. The owner's moved in though.

Not sure on this one, it's a whole new house in the extension, what will they do with the old house.

Why not just buy a plot and build a modern house rather than tack it on to a nice old house?
