One on my mates has just started a project with them. When he makes some real progress I might post some pics. As I understand it, the money offer is conditional on a successful project and transmission.
My wife and I are going to do our "Grand Design" next year, nothing like as big as the one that's on now but an interesting project in a lot of ways.

She's said we should contact Channel 4 and see if they're interested and what they might offer us to be involved, I'm not so sure but if the money's good it might help fund my future car purchases, do you have any idea of what they are offering your mate?

Ha, now the invisible welded cladding is too short.

These tilers are going to mess something up, a grout line won't be perfectly centralised to a tree in the garden or something.

No budget for the build seems a touch inaccurate!
I can understand people doing these projects in they'd won the lottery or earn £5M/yr, but to take them on such uncertain costs when money is tight (or non-existent) seems unbelievably insane.
He must be quite mad going into a project like that without proper a BoQ, budgets, contingency, quotes in place with subcontractors etc. There's no cost certainty in order to get funds in place beforehand.

Plenty of planning on the looks of the place, but none on the financial running of the build. Amatuer mistake.

The minute word gets around that the customer is a perfectionist, the price goes up - perfection is a costly business.

Think about 70k but as I said based on lots of criteria, and you only get it at the end after transmission so you, in theory, don't add it to your spend. They don't want to be in any way responsible for your financial failures.
