How did they get planning for this ? They're building a massive warehouse next to a quaint old lodge house.

Madness really. And all these changes as they go?!

I fear that something that had the potential to be nice could end up being a prime example of more money than sense.

As others have said, would prefer it to have been a whole new build away from the old house too.

Here we go; 40K out of the refurbishment budget already.
I think the only way they will get anywhere near the budget is robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I'm reserving judgement until it's finished but the enthusiasm I had at the beginning is already waning.

It will be environmentally friendly or some such planning loophole. Guarantee the first planning application was to demolish that cottage that will be used occasionally for guests.

I'm guessing they've got some agricultural occupation type loophole , and this is a "barn" hence the vagueness over connecting to the cottage

I think they should have flattened the cottage and built over it, maybe turning the new build into a whacky shape on the outside too.

The cottage has no architectural merit at all.

Love the new build.

Can't help thinking all these wacky spaces for the kids will be unused in a couple of years.

Lovely tree.

Not a house for me, I thought the waves in the zinc were a flaw and the fireplace is vile.
