I get the feeling we're supposed to be "on his side" but he's so irritating!!

Also I think someone needs to explain the concept of a burner phone to some of these guys...

if you used skype or similar to contact people from a mobile, would it be more or less traceable?

I assume I would make very boring tv. Get all the money immediately, ditch technology and just go into hiding with a poncho. 28 days isnt that long really.

I'd love to see Dr Allen go properly feral. Maybe kill a man and go on the run for real.....

I wonder if her phoning her husband about seeing her son was a decoy?

It must be tricky to track them when they have no plan they just hitch hike.

Blondies hitch hiking method is rubbish too,as seen in episode 1.

Waving like she's in distress, not the accepted way with the thumb out.

Firstly it takes a certain type of person to apply to go on TV shows - usually these are people with little or no imagination or idea about the reality of TV and the media.

Secondly 'normal' people are almost immediately weeded out. You might have one or two on a series like this but the contestants are chosen for their entertainment value, not their ability.

Finally it's 90% smoke and mirrors. If you think that what you see on TV is unscripted then you are sadly mistaken. It will be, either before shooting or in the editing room and most likely a mix of the two. You would not believe the way you can change viewer perceptions by a little edit here and a little one there to make a character 'likable' or 'unlikeable' regardless of their performance in reality.

I'm sure someone has made the point - but I can't read all the thread - how are you supposed to look inconspicuous in the street with at least one cameraman chasing after you, or hide in a bush with a cameraman standing over you? Completely unrealistic.

Second episode was as piss poor as the first.

The thing the whole show misses is that if you were actually on the run, you would most probably partake in illegal activities to allow you to keep going e.g. stealing food, meaning you don't have to access an ATM at any point.

The idea of using a bothy as a hiding place and shelter is a good idea though.

You could have a go bag full of cash ?

If you entered the show you'd know roughly when if you were picked you'd go on the run so you could bury cash in advance.

Less, slightly - you'd need to talk to Skype to get the IP address, and then contact the ISP to get where that was assigned. If it's mobile data, you'll then be able to get the cell tower, otherwise the service provider will probably know where it was at that time. The only thing it would do is buy you some time.

Yeah, but staged. (Yes, I know, whole show is..)

Though it was either planned/scripted (look - no one can hide from the state), he got bored, or he wanted to end it.

He must have known that he would be caught, using central travel hubs etc.

I was praying for a glimmer of realism and that he pulled the communication cord about half a mile from the station and did a runner. rotate

Obviously staged, surely he would have got off before Euston if he wanted to avoid capture (unless he really had "given up"). Also, the way the 2 girls were prancing around just because a chopper was overhead. Looking forward to see how the two Midlanders get on !
