The problem for Vana is not in building the app for £250k.

It's the building it, letting people use it for free, heavily marketing it to get millions of users, then working out how to monetise it
Which would probably involve a big button saying "To see this persons picture and profile and not bother playing all the crap games then pay £5 and click here".

Sugar made the right call imo, out a poor bunch. All Vana demonstrated was a lot of hot air, when at least spiv boy had a track record.

And as for that app, I can't think of anything more tedious than having to work (or play) for the right to see some bird who's likely a dog, when I can see thousands for free elsewhere. It's 2015- has nobody explained to her that we want things NOW?

I don't think it'll ever see the light of day. Whether she manages to waste someone's £250k+ in the process is something else.

Richard was the one credible candidate, he just couldn't help being a colossal cock as well.

I think you hit the nail on the head. If it was the older style Apprentice where someone would be given a job. Richard would win in hands down - if only he could work with other people!

A little after firing video from Richard, shame his business plan wasn't more polished as he could have won I think otherwise

DatePlay provides a platform for your game studio to introduce your games to a wider audience, by offering sample levels of your games inside our app. Using the DatePlay API, third party games can interface with our unique DatePlay algorithm, so that users can play your levels, and increase the depth of their personality profile at the same time.

It's a win win for both you and us - we get top quality games for our users to play, and you get huge exposure and advertising directly to your core demographic.
Or, roughly translated, we have no money to build any actual games, so please lend us yours.

Thought most of the ideas were pretty rubbish to be honest.
OK, the plumbing was prob a good business, but really, how dull is that? And think of the resource that was in that room at the city hall - I wonder how much that cost?

But dear God, am I the only one to think that blokes will hate Date Play - what is the point - you want to see a woman before seeing if you are compatible - I think blokes are completely driven by the visual, and would hate it. Compatibility is way down the list - you have to fancy her first surely. Could not be arsed with that.

Agreed.
Be interesting to know how many of the 4900 users are actually real ?
Wouldn't be the first site/app to invent and create fictitious users.

If you were going to 'create' users you'd create more than that ffs. I'd guess that's the sum total of the people who watched the Apprentice, all 5million(?) of them, who bothered to seek out the site and sign up. There's no other reason to have her name and st photo (looks like she's struggling to take a dump) on it, other than to make use of the exposure she's had. But even after all that she's only managed 0.1% of viewers. And I bet 80% of them are women. She spoke about quality men, what 'quality' guy with a decent job or business has the time to fanny about playing stupid games to see a woman when he could check out other sites and be fking one within the hour?

And the name is crap. PlayDate makes some sense, DatePlay is second best by a long, long distance. What a crock of unworkable st.

And there was me thinking DatePlay was a st idea. What sort of hipster crap is that? Speed dating with added Lego and PlayDoh?

The world has gone fking mental. Well London anyway.

Fair enough - i feel if you are born somewhere AND grow up there you are infact "from" that country whatever your heritage/parents nationalities are.

She certainly has lived some interesting places in her life! Getting to use her extensive language skills (apprentice speak) with the chinese house buyer and french wine glass seller certainly impressed both the other candidates and claude and karren alike.

But there would need to be some sort of credibility to the numbers, everyone knows she didn't get the funding and is probably doing it on a shoestring. Creating 100,000+ 'fake' users after a week? month? would have everyone seriously questioning the figures.

But the number of sign-ups would only be 1 KPI.

So, how many people are engaging with the app, on a hourly/daily/weekly basis. How many games are being played, how many matches are being made, etc, etc, etc.

Sure you could fudge the sign-ups, but not anything else.

It says something when you've had millions of pounds worth of exposure on prime time BBC over ten weeks, culminating in an hour long proposal and a week later have 5k subscribers.

That's all the market research she needs, right there.

I'd rather not, I'm private like that.

Unlike those who we themselves all over the BBC for a few quid. Do that then you should expect critical analysis.

And I'm not sure why you're digging me, what I said is factually correct. She's had an audience of millions, if it was a great idea she'd have more interest. It's not, as described it's boring and time consuming.

And just to add, looking at her website would worry me too. Wine, networking, scarves, now dating apps? Smacks to me of throwing enough st at the wall something might stick. She'd be better advised to concentrate on what actually makes money imo.
