I enjoyed the program, especially the segment (albeit short) on the DBR1 and thought Hollywood was ok.

His DBS is a fine motor car.

I really enjoyed it and thought he came across very well. Lovely cars as well. Except for the jacked up crossover.

If you watched the programme, and loved the £20million Aston Martin DBR1 racing car, you may be saddened to learn that it's had a bit of a bump that probably won't T-cut out.

Very sad to see it all bent up like that but panels can be beaten.

Was lovely to see Gilly Goldsmith showing Paul around the car as well! Not seen her in years and for anyone who watched and wondered who she was not only does she and her husband look after some of the very nicest Astons in the World but also she was once a mean Hillclimber who could give the boys more than a run for their money. IIRC she was the only lady to beat Joy Rainey up Shelsley.

The inside of the DB10 looked pretty rough and ready - trim missing in the centre console, rally car style hand brake.

I imagine like most of the other cars that are used in films and get beaten up, the outside looks authentic but the inside is lashed together which is probably why there wont be any road versions.

That is a shame.

On the one hand wonderful to see the car being used but I don't think anyone would want to see it damaged as per this weekend's events.

Let us hope Peter and Gillian Goldsmith can return the car to it's former glory.

All repairable. "Thankfully, almost any damage is repairable and no doubt the car will be returned to its original state very soon..."

The DB10 looks like a fish and the secret location looks like Millbrook.
It wasnt Millbrook, i would say it was Chertsey the old QinetiQ test track. Too many trees for it to be Millbrook.

Did anyone else think that DB10 looked like a cheap Chinese knock-off of an Aston?

Thanks for the warning. I'll make sure I'm no where near!
I have a terrible feeling Paul Hollywood will be one of new presenters of Top Gear.

I thought it was the Chobham test track, they film a lot of TV segments there and close to London.

Slight O/T
I did a 6th-Gear sports car experience on that Chobham test track.
Horrible circuit, you spend your time worrying about hitting one of the many walls and trees frown

The DB10 is essentially a V8 Vantage 4.7 underneath.

I think they are using it to test the water with regards to a new styling direction.

Personally i'm not sure about it. The rear is nice - but the front overhang looks a little odd. I'd like to have seen a road going version of the Vulcan.

i thought it was a it crap, he had no real personality, and Aston Martin came over very wooden.

They whole 007 thing gets tedious and AM seem a bit lost amongst over car makers. They are a lot like Jaguar in the late 90's and early 2000's, very stuffy and the buyers are very much then older generation who are dying out.

Some interesting history of James Band and Aston Martin.

http://doubleonothing.com/2010/05/02/no-mr-bond-i-...

I had always thought that Aston had refused to lend DB5s to Eon Productions for the Bond films, and that they had been forced to purchase them. But it seems that I got my wires crossed and it was actually Sir William Lyons who refused to lend them Jaguar E-Types, so they went to their second choice of Aston Martin.

Me too and I thought PH came across quite well tbh, and his enthusiasm seemed genuine enough. Hopefully AM will do well under Andy Palmer.

Ive done some military vehicle testing through the years there. Like you say though there isnt much run-off if it goes a bit Pete Tong. Many many years ago i was doing some big mil truck stuff and shared the track with some blokes from a little factory down the road who had their protoype racing around with some sticky tape stuff all over it.....that car became the Mclaren F1.
