Hislop is very astute but thinking of puns on the fly he not so good at.

Presenter gets a ribbing on TV show known for the same, shock horror.

I thought it was odd. Richard Osman was funny the first few times but then it just got awkward and nobody seemed to laugh, I don't know if it was the editing that made it seem like that or if it was just genuinely awkward.

I wasn't quite sure whether Richard Osman's digs were genuine or tongue-in-cheek, perhaps he's trying to be "edgier" than he can be on Pointless.

I also found Richard Osman's jibes very jarring and too "try hard". Very odd behaviour, which got wearing after a while.

yup - would love to know what was so clumsily edited out 5 mins before the end.
Immediately set box to record the extended version to see if its in there. Perhaps its just a new ruse to get the viewing figs up !

That's the way I read this smile

He deserved a good kicking and got one. It didn't seem really personal, but for once Clarkson came off worse IMHO.

I quite like RO normally but he was out of order last night. Spoiled what could have been a good episode.
Indeed it just seemed cheap and a bit vindictive toward the end. Crow baring them in rather too obviously. What a prat.

Found it all a bit awkward. I think that Richard Osman thought that everyone was against Clarkson and he would get the boot in. Not really the case, and he came across as just not funny and mean.

Clarkson also looked tired and as though he didn't want to be there.

why was he even on the show? (Clarkson)

he was (effectively) sacked by the BBC for his behaviour, does that mean he can just pop back to the BBC as a contractor on a another job? but not another series of Top Gear, that would be completely different?

Guest appearances mean just that, they have had punchy MP's why not presenters? As long as they feed him steak then there should be no issues in the green room.

then why don't the same rules apply for a new Top Gear series?

why do you care?

plenty of people on TV have done the same if not much worse, why have you got a hard on about Clarkson?

(and last time I looked, Hat-trick productions were not owned by the BBC)

you are a crude moron

I don't particularly care about Clarkson, I just wondered why they made a big deal about sacking him from a popular show, perhaps finishing it off, only to have him back on the screen

I like both but I was a bit disappointed by Osman, I guess I expected better of him. It actually came across better in 'A bit more' when we saw the full exchanges.

Angus Deayton gets dropped as presenter because he ended up in the news after a scandal, which meant subsequent shows would all be about him. Guest presenters are hired instead, like Jeremy Clarkson who recently ended up in the news after a scandal, which meant the subsequent show was all about him. Yay for consistency!

*edited to acknowledge that there was a gap of probably 15 years between these events, but I still enjoyed the irony.

Don't know. Don't know what legalities there are behind the scenes. I think he was always down for an episode so maybe it is that?

Not really worried about it anyway,.

Who knows they may even get Max Clifford to host a show when he's done his time.
